Gallo pinto: Rice, beans, seasoning and Lozano sauce. Typically served with plantain, cheese and eggs but this is completely vegan!

Tumblr es una red social extraña, de verdad.
En todos estos años, han sido pocas las personas ticas que he encontrado acá, y sé que no he sido el único que ha hecho notar esto; recuerdo que hace algunos años se intentó hacer una especie de "Tumblr party" de gente tica incluso (a la que, como era de esperar, no asistí), pero no sé si tuvo mayor efecto en cuanto a crear una comunidad de usuarios de Tumblr ticos se trata. Es más, no sé si la mentada fiesta se llevó a cabo al final.
Ahora que se está dando una especie de movida de gente que está retornando a Tumblr después de años, me pregunto, ¿sigue habiendo gente de Costa Rica acá?

The first real dinner in my new kitchen: gallo pinto and avocado! It’s simple and delicious and it reminds me of home, aaand now I know which grocery stores in my new neighborhood carry beans and cilantro, which in Tokyo is very valuable information indeed.

Daniela Andrade shares 'Gallo Pinto'
Honduran-Canadian artist and producer, Daniela Andrade is sharing the intimate new single, ‘Gallo Pinto’, the latest to be taken from the new eight-track EP, Tamale (out October 25) following in the wake of the NPR and Billboard-tipped ‘Ayayai’.
Once again drawing on Andrade’s Honduran heritage, ‘Gallo Pinto’, cast against smouldering electronics and sinewy R&B, finds Daniela paying homage to her parents’ roots, addressing their immigration and transition from the Central American country to Montréal, Canada in 1987. It’s a deeply touching and personal fragment of the Tamale EP for Daniela, capturing an emotional time when her parents had to leave her three older siblings behind in Honduras to make ends meet whilst they brought Andrade up as the only child to have been born in Canada.
“My view of the world was split between two [Honduras and Canada] from an early age and my family story instilled deep-seated values in me,” explains Daniela. “This song captures some of those emotions for me, as I speak to different versions of myself and open up to my audience about where my family and I come from.”
