NICARAGUA WHERE: RositaBakeryNica (4119 Postgate Terrace Silver Spring, Aspen Hill, MD 20906) Talk about a little hidden gem... this place was tucked away between warehouses and behind a truck depot. RositaBakeryNica was run by a little old lady who was very happy that I was trying out different world cuisines. She told me that her fritanga platter was definitely the most authentic in the area. I loved how much pride she took in her food and her homeland. She was just so excited that this was the first time I'd ever eaten Nicaraguan food. We debated whether I should get the steak and onions or the carne asada, so I went with the one I couldn't pronounce, heh. We talked a bit about the different types of plantains in the meal and where in Virginia to buy good produce. She even gave me a free macaroon (the shop is half bakery) when I left. So, from what I've learned about Nicaragua so far: they have hospitality down to an art. And their food is deliciousa.

Pollo empanizado (fried chicken ) with gallo pinto and platano from la fritanga Monimbo 🇳🇮 I eat from this place at least twice a week. No shame.

Here is my personal favorite soup, Arroz Aguado ( chicken and rice stew) Arroz aguado is equivalent to chicken soup just with the difference that in this one you add rice to it. It is the traditional Nicaraguan chicken soup. 🍜🇳🇮
