Thanks for your req! I’m so sorry it’s taken so long, and I only have half of it, but never fear, the other half will be done and posted for you shortly!

I know you wanted these done for Kalyn, so instead of both of them for each, I answered the first one for Vee, and the second one will be for Kalypso, so I hope that’s okay 🖤🖤🖤

The question was: Do they prefer company when they’re sick, or would they prefer to be left alone?

Well, Vee hates being alone in general. He’s very extroverted and prefers to surround himself with people to keep him from thinking himself into a bad mood.

Before the venue fire, he’d lived with Rexar for four years, even after Rexar started dating Kriia and she subsequently moved in. Every time he would get sick, he’d trudge himself into where ever Rexar was hanging out, either one of their massive living rooms, the studio couch, or even Rex’s bed, just to fall asleep.

Because his parents were never really around as they were always busy with some political bullshit and out of town, he was raised mostly by a revolving door of nannies that always just shut him up in his room by himself and only checked in on him every so often while he could hear his other three siblings having fun without him.

His FOMO would make staying alone in his room feel alienating, so of course, when he moved in with Rex into another huge estate that reminded him of his parents house, he would do everything he could to avoid going into his room to suffer in silence (hence why he is perpetually on the couch in his pilot fic…) and after a few times of him nodding out on Rex’s couch after desperately trying to stay awake and be part of the conversation, Rexar decided to just start calling Vee in specifically to fall asleep while Rexar did his own thing. It was a sure fire way to get Vee to sleep, anyway.

The first few times, Vaelyn felt self conscious about the whole thing, like he was being babysat, and did everything in his power to stay awake (usually resulting in him falling asleep anyway….) but eventually it just became tradition.

Vee is notorious for being able to fall asleep whenever, wherever, and it didn’t matter what was going on around him, so rexar didn’t even need to act differently to prevent him waking up. Once as a joke, he even LOUDLY strummed his guitar directly in the lions ear, and Vee didn’t even twitch. So as long as Vaelyn could handle Rexar’s teasing (all w love 😂) he deeply appreciated the ability to feel included, even if he was asleep.

Now, since the venue fire that caused him to go into hiding, he only really sees Kalypso….. the first few times he had gotten sick afterward, out of habit he trudged himself into Kal’s room, and crawled onto her bed, before snuggling into the blankets and quickly falling asleep, even sometimes in mid conversation … needless to say, she wasn’t pleased with her pillows and blankets littered with drool/snot stains, and banished the lion to his solitude (the living room couch…) Very occasionally she lets him do it now, but it makes him miss his casual friendship with Rex in those moments.
