tokay geckos (gekko gecko) ? ive seen a wild one before at a place i stayed at
Have you seen the tokay gecko (Gekko gecko)?
I have now
Yes, in photos/videos
Yes, irl
I'm not sure
The name "Tokay" is based on the mating call of the males. The photos I've picked are some of the calmest inaturalist observations of tokay geckos I could find, but these geckos will not hesitate to let you know how they feel if they are upset with you, as in many other inaturalist observations. The term "Gecko" comes from this species.
Uncharismatic Fact of the Day
What sound does a gecko make? At least one species 'barks'! Known as barking geckos, the sound they make isn't very dog-like, but it is enough to deter predators and rival males during the mating season.
