but whats bad abt wanting to take a selfie w a musician you admire at a gig of a band you love :/ if i was front row of whatever band i like i'd love to have a shot with me and the band like that
I’d agree that they would’ve overreacted if she’d just been doing that and then continuing to watch the show, but she wasn’t taking a selfie with a musician - it was twenty solid minutes worth of watching someone pointing the camera squarely at their own face with their back turned to them, fully ignoring everything happening onstage. It’d be one thing if it was one or two shots but we were all distracted by it at that point (the band and the audience), so I get why they chucked her out so that spot could be given to someone who’d actually come to see them.
It wasn’t like they were rejecting any cameras getting whipped out at all or being grumpy bums about selfies in general, I wouldn’t get onboard with that. But if i’d been in that band and a third of my set was disrupted by someone holding their arm in front of me, obstructing the views of the fans behind her and making them uncomfortable, just to get the lighting i’d paid for to take a photo of herself, I reckon I would’ve felt like my space was being invaded and booted her out, too. I also feel, in hindsight, that they could’ve asked her to stop first before sending her out, but that’s their call.
