General Sam Carter: Putting out fires and stopping Daniel from unleashing an alien curse on the base.

Jack: Same old, same old.

Sam: Pretty much. *pauses as Walter tells her something* Oh. Daniel died again.

Sam, to Jack: I could use a distraction tonight.

Jack: I’ll think of something.

Just had an idea for an SG-1 tie in novel that takes place after the series when Sam is General and Commander in Chief of Stargate Command, and starts with an unscheduled wormhole is established. A young man steps through the closed iris and asks to speak with "the General."

Sam emerges from the command center, ordering the defense teams to stand by-- their unexpected visitor is a stranger, but the reeds and moss in his hair readily identify him as a member of an old ally race: the Nox.

"We haven't heard from the Nox in a very long time," Sam says as she walks up the ramp. "I'm General Carter. What is your name?"

"Don't you remember me... Carter?"

The young man casual in his familiarity, and teasing in its tone. The security teams look between themselves for a clue but come up empty. Sam studies the youth's face, searching her memory.

Then her features light up in a kilowatt smile, as bright as the day they first met.

"Nefrayu."

Day Ten: Favorite female character in a scifi/supernatural show

Originally I was going to go with another Firefly character, but I felt like I'd sang the praises of that show enough. So I shifted my attention to another great badass chick, GENERAL SAMANTHA CARTER! played by the beautiful and talented, Amanda Tapping!

So where to begin with this woman here. From the very first fucking episode, she says it in the blackest black and whitest white, just because she's female doesn't mean she can't handle this crap. But you know what happens when she says it? She's cut down for thinking it. It's immediately established, that any shit her team commander gives her, will not be because she's female, it'll be because she's a scientist. And throughout the series, her intelligence and her tactical skills save her ass, her friends' ass, and her team's ass. She's snarky, she's a leader, she's a genius, she's just brilliant. I'd go into further detail, but my memory is failing me, as I have not seen this character on television since her last 2 appearances in SGU.
