so, yesterday my friends and i watched the first zootopia, and we watched it in german, and you know what i noticed?? in the end, when nick & judy are chasing flash in their car and nick says "you know you love me", in the german dub he says "du weißt du stehst auf mich", which basically translates to "you know you're into me" or "you know you have a crush on me", and that's all the fucking wildehopps proof i need

Banana Fish will get an official German dub DVD release in summer 2026.

This is not an AI version (unlike Amazon Prime). It’s an official license for a German studio who synchronizes a lot of anime. It was officially announced.

Gotta admit, that Time Bug of Star Trek: Discovery season five bringing us back to an Action Hero Jett Reno somewhen in season three is quite the highlight of Star Trek: Discovery season five.

She's perfect.

Also (Fun Fact Time!), when Reno is asked by Rayner how he can thank her for saving his ass and she replies he can buy her a drink at Red's,

this scene has a gorgeous meta layer in the German dubbed version that I watched, because the voice actor who dubbed Callum Keith Rennie (his name is Dietmar Wunder) also dubbed Daniel Craig in Casino Royale (which in case you didn't know is an adaption of the Fleming novel for which the Vesper cocktail was invented).

Charlie Kelly's American accent in the German dub is something special. 🤠

before this post, i would like a little disclaimer: the german dub of dbda is good. i especially like edwin, and while the accents of the characters don't carry over, i still think they did an overall good job with it. i am not posting this to shit on the dub. i'd never.

HOWEVER, they messed up on literally the most important scene of the show. edwin's confession (obviously). more specifically, charle's response. "we have forever to figure out what our friendship means" is unfortunately not the same thing as "we've got literally forever to figure out what the rest means". and that is a major mess-up. i could write another essay about germany and its problem with homophobia, but, like, what happened there. who translated that.

Actually so thankful that the German dub of OPLA kept Zoro's German name "Lorenor Zorro". It rolls so much better off the tongue and I can actually pronounce it without having the written word in front of me to check or saying it really, really carefully.
