Me angry
I’m helping my best friend with her master thesis about racism in schoolbooks. And it. Is. Frustrating. We both are barely able to concentrate on the topic for longer than 2 hours.
U see... Obviously we have to explain first what racism is, what discrimination is, where one ends and where the other begins, stuff like that. But the thing is.... it’s all nice when you know what the problems are, what needs to be changed, what could be made better in the examples you have found.... that’s all neat. But it all seems useless when you concentrate on how schoolbooks are made. When you realize that there are a bunch of white teachers, sitting together one or two evenings to go through a book the publisher had deemed worthy of adjusting to more modern standarts.... and the teachers are only allowed to change about 30% of what is already there. So what do they do? Do they concentrate on exchanging pictures? Do they change text to be less discriminating? Do they change tasks? Or literature that is needed? Do they change text to be actually up to date with recent scientific breakthroughs? Tip: There is no one present who actually works in the scientific field the schoolbook discusses, because researchers and professors are not paid for spreading their knowledge in this country of wisdom. And there is no one present who is keeping an eye on possible discriminating things either. More often than not there are only white teachers present - a single muslim would probably make a lot of a difference already but hell, that would be the day! So it all just goes on and on and on and on~ And the publisher is happy because they don’t have to change much and make money very easily by selling the same shit every year with minor variations. LOVE this system. I am enraged. And frustrated.

Being a German writer is a whole other level of stress.
If I need to google one more fucking time if a word is written capitalised or not in a specific context I'm literally gonna kill somebody.
Central Europe this week
Joined a german ‘asian dramas’ group on facebook (because I am german and was bored), just to see what’s up.
And they all talk about the dramas on viki with their german titles and I am like
