Is also a big animal lover like his son.
Really wants to adopt all of the stray cats.
Probably lets them into the Citadel regardless; using the excuse that he has them patrolling the Citadel along with the guards. Knowing him, he’s probably humored the idea of making them little Kingsglaive or Crownsguard uniforms, though was likely shot down and talked out of it by Cor. Clarus fully supported it.
Also not a fan of vegetables and something of a picky eater, though he tries to tough it out for Noctis’ sake.
Knowing of Noctis’ fate as the Chosen King, he chose to raise him less as a king to a prince and more as a father to a son.
Enjoys fishing and playing golf as part of his free time.
He especially enjoys playing with Clarus while trying to see how many times he can hit Cor with said golf balls.
Likes to take long drives in the Regalia, reminiscing back to happier times.
Makes annual visits to his late wife’s grave and talks to her about things that have been going on. Somewhat blames himself for not being able to save her.
Secretly has his own ships and pairings around the Citadel.
Lowkey likes to get people the most ridiculous looking gifts just to see their reaction. Like it’s not that they’re not useful or good, in fact it’s quite the opposite. He’ll then make it his mission find something they’ll like as a gift, though will then try and find the most ridiculous looking model of it.
“Is this really necessary, your Majesty?” “I don’t know what you’re talking about, Clarus. He’ll love these for sure, I know it.” “Yes, but did it really have to be the hot pink and yellow Behemoth slippers?” “Are you questioning my gift giving abilities, Clarus?” “No, no, of course not, your Majesty.” “I don’t like your tone, Clarus.”
Despite his rather serious role as king, he’s actually quite the sass master, always adding in little side comments and jokes, but because he’s king and everyone always takes him so seriously, almost no one ever catches him, much less call him out on it.
Meanwhile Clarus and Cor are the only ones aware of this; from the little eye rolls, grimaces, and cringing. They know what’s up.
Really just wants everyone to be happy and safe.
Has tried really hard not to burst into tears while watching his son because goddammit sometimes he’s just so damn cute and precious and he just doesn’t deserve his fate.
