Have you ever heard of the Headcanon that after Jason was brought back to life he could see ghosts?

Pair that with the Ghost!reader story

Jason, staring at Ghost!Reader behind NW: “[Neglected Wayne]… who the fuck is that??”

Neglected Wayne: “Oh hi Jason!! That’s Yaya!”

Alfred, who believes Jason is participating in NW’s imagination: “ah, good to see you two finally bonding. Say hi to “Yaya” for me”

Jason: “I genuinely do not know what the fuck is going on but I think Bruce needs to pack his shit and leave if this place is haunted”

I love that headcanon. I like to think that he can see ghosts but it’s kinda blurry, he use to be able to see them clear as day when he first left the Lazarus pit, but as time passed, they became blurrier.

Ghost! Reader, watching Jason intensely and tilts their head: “???”

Jason: “Heyyyyyyyy [Neglected Wayne], how about we move away from that creepy shadow ghost thinggggg…”

NW, who’s happy to have Jason talking to them: “Yaya isn’t creepy! Come on say hi Jason!”

Ghost! Reader, silently waves at him: “👋🙂”

Jason: “I need to find a priest.”

I also think the longer Jason notices Ghost! Reader and interacts with them he can see and interact with them more, but rn he’s so creeped out.

I think Jason would start spending more time with Neglected Wayne after seeing Ghost! Reader, worried that the small child is being haunted.

At this point it seems I like to bully Jason.. all of the drawings of him he is in somewhat suffering or annoyed or scared ... What a big coincidence...

Ghost Reader Shenanigans

I like to think about Ghost Reader and what they do on a regular basis since no one can see them right? I like to imagine them going around the manor and doing little things to piss people off.

Tilts the paintings in the hallways and when Alfred fixes it and puts the step ladder away, tilts the painting again.

Slaps bruce's face to wake him up when they are mad at him (had to stop bc he started to sense when they would come into the room and start waking up)

When Tim is gaming, ghost reader will mess with his wifi and make him lag (his gamer ragequits are so funny)

Since Jason is able to see them, they blackmail him into spending more time with Neglected Child Wayne, which honestly has been helping him with his mental health? Like he and Neglected Child Wayne will color and watch TV together and its actually pretty relaxing for Jason.

Will open the cabinets in any room and leave them open (its drives Tim and Alfred crazy)

Teaches Neglected Child Wayne how to catch lizards, frogs and toads so that they bring them into the manor. Its fun watching Dick jump onto a coffee table and point at the frog that Neglected Child Wayne has named "Pubert"

Stands in the corner of a room that Titus is in and makes faces at him, causing him to bark.

No one knows what he's barking at. Everytime Selina is in the manor and she and Bruce are flirting, Ghost reader will boo them. It always sounds distant, like its coming from down a long hallway. Its also very exaggerated sounding.

Has been leaving little messages for Neglected Child Wayne in their mirror every day. Just cute little things like "Good morning little light", "I wish for you to have a prosperous day", "I adore you little light" and "don't forget your lunch, little light". Will write "go to bed" on Tim's bathroom mirror, but when that doesn't work Ghost Reader forces Tim to go to bed by messing with his electronics.

Has always loved drawing with the children of the manor throughout the years, but when they saw Dick and Jason playing Slender: The Eight Pages, they got inspired and drew their own version and started putting them in the woods where the boys would find them.

A mutual and I love to ship Ghost! Reader with Jason. He just loves seeing period accuracy, you know?

But, in the beginning he does not like you. Hell, he thinks you're a demon at first, which made you so mad.

"Thou dare call me a demon?! Thou not even brushing the shoulders of the lowliest sinner in thine chapel pew!!" *uses ghost powers and smacks him in the head with the stupid little crucifix that he keeps threatening you with*

Ghost getting mad Bruce is ignoring their messages and starts ripping holes in his cape

Hides all of his right shoes, steals the laces, replaces his new bat cowl with the old one with the ridiculously long bat ears, replaces his sugar with salt, sometimes just slaps him in the middle of the night and disappears when he wakes up in a fright.

His work has never been worse.

He’s never had Tim check the security cameras more.

Jason is so distracted from vindication. Like he’s turning to everyone and screaming how he told them so.

Jason: “I told you so!!! I told you this place is fucking haunted!!! I told you the god of shadows lived in the manor B, but noooooo ‘there’s no such thing as god in Gotham’!!! I told you so!!”

Alfred, spiraling as he quickly goes to check on NW, hoping that they’re in their room: “Yaya is real… oh lord it’s real… it’s real…”

Bruce, following Alfred bc omg there’s an entity attached to his youngest: “You knew about that thing?!?!”

Alfred: “I thought it was an imaginary friend, Master Wayne!”

Jason: “I thought they couldn’t talk, well at least we’re learning something new.”

Ghost Reader helps NW with words they can’t truly comprehend, allowing a more mature and vast collection of vocabulary within the kid.

The kid speaks like Damian, except older. I feel like Neglected Wayne accidentally slips “thy, thou, thine” into their sentences bc Ghost Reader does. You’d think that Ghost Reader would be better by now, but it comes out at times.

I imagine Neglected Wayne like that one scene from the movie Matilda, where she goes to the library and the librarian asks her do she wants to read kids books, but since Matilda read them all she just reads books past her level.

Neglected Wayne is helping Ghost Reader get books.

Ghost reader will never say it out loud, but they resent that they had to die to get a proper education. They could read and write a little, and even do math, but nothing advanced. They hate that it took dying to learn that they have a love for chemistry and astronomy. Hates that it took dying to learn about dinosaurs and the history of earth.

They resent it all, but being able to study and learn with Neglect Wayne feels like a balm over the burn.

I think Ghost would have a particular fondness for Duke and Cas. Children who have suffered from great adversity have always had a soft place in their heart.

Ghost can see how brilliant they are, smiling with pride each time they accomplish their goals.

Slipping a piece of them into their bags so that they can leave the manor’s grounds to watch them as Cas preforms her dance routines, watching from the shadows and mimicking her movements, or Duke in his sport activities, hiding in the shadows of the bleachers, cheering him on among the crowd.

They don’t know that Ghost exists, and they are okay with that, long accepting that are meant for the shadows, their actions seen, but themselves not.

They thought they were okay with it all.

That is until their light came into their world, their child. Bruce’s first born.

Their long dead heart warming at hearing the small one’s little “Yaya” when they see Ghost, or how they seek Ghost every chance they get. Or how they genuinely light up their bleak existence inside the manor’s grounds.

Who knew being seen felt so freeing for a ghost?
