These Maple Glazed Gingerbread Scones are a delightful treat with warm spices and a sweet maple glaze. Perfect for breakfast or a cozy snack with a cup of tea or coffee.
Ingredients: 2 cups all-purpose flour. 1/4 cup granulated sugar. 1 tablespoon baking powder. 1/2 teaspoon baking soda. 1/2 teaspoon salt. 1 teaspoon ground ginger. 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon. 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves. 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed. 1/3 cup molasses. 1/4 cup milk. 1/4 cup sour cream. 1 large egg. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. For the glaze:. 1/2 cup powdered sugar. 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup. 1-2 tablespoons milk.
Instructions: Preheat your oven to 400F 200C. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and spices ginger, cinnamon, and cloves. Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut it in until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. In a separate bowl, whisk together the molasses, milk, sour cream, egg, and vanilla extract. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it a few times until it comes together. Pat the dough into a circle about 1 inch thick and cut it into 8 wedges. Place the scones on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until they are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. While the scones are baking, prepare the glaze by whisking together powdered sugar, maple syrup, and enough milk to reach your desired glaze consistency. Once the scones are done, drizzle the glaze over them while they are still warm. Allow the glaze to set for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
