[Ingrid] Record your hotshop process and techniques learned. Record your results and update your blogs
As I mentioned it before in my blog, this is my first time to make glass. Thus, everything is new and interesting and feels like a learning first step to walk.
I tried to note the basic and important things I have learned and seen. Due to my lack of knowledge about spelling and words, I recorded drawing as a note. However, it makes me easy to remind and simulate the techniques and tools.
Those baubles and small balls are my first glass outcomes through week1 and 2 lessons.
The small glass balls are the result of gathering, marvering and cutting for practice. Now I fully understood how to marver, but I am still quite struggling in gathering glass. When I see the demonstration it looks not that difficult, but it is more difficult than looks. I keep failing because of my terrible control to gather, however, I definitely will improve my technique through practice.
The baubles were made by glass blowing.
My breath of the day (Friday, September 28, 2018) was saved in the glass baubles. My first glass blowing will be remembered forever, and I will keep those forever.
I was joyful and excited because I always wanted to do glass blowing, even though I suffered from blowing my breath.
In Glass Blowing, it is important to blow evenly inside of glass bubble and keep the centre of the glass so that it will not collapse. I know it is in my head, but it is hard to do. I cannot keep well the centre of the glass yet, hence it made the glass move to one side. Moreover, the unbalance caused collapse in a glory hole because part of the glass surface was too thin.
I will consider these basic knowledges of glass and will continue to practice for enhancing my blowing skill. It would not be easy, but I hope I will do better and better next time.
