Introduction
Hey there! 👋 Welcome to The Global Journal, a space where I share my thoughts and insights on current humanitarian issues that matter to us all. As a student passionate about making a difference, I believe in the power of knowledge and empathy to create positive change in our world.
In this blog, I’ll be diving into topics like refugee rights, climate justice, and social inequality, sharing stories and perspectives that inspire action. 🌍✨ My goal is to spark conversations, ignite awareness, and encourage all of us to think critically about the challenges our global community faces.
Join me on this journey of exploration and learning! Let’s shine a light on the pressing issues of our time and find ways to make an impact, no matter how small. I can't wait to share my discoveries with you! 💬
Up to a global mood!
Our last very important steps into the bilingual school of Porta Mosana are literally just around the corner! Having presented our ideas to the client, we admit we are more than ready to bring all our global celebration mood to school!
A more detailed plan of the activities for our GC market is ready in line with the final comments of both the client and the mentor. The design of a ‘GC Passport’, that will be offered to pupils as their “gate to the world”, is almost finalized. Most important, today, the team visited the school to set up the room where the activities will take place. Note that the day will be decorated with an international spirit, so, please, stay tuned to check our pictures of the event in the coming days!
And we swear, we’re only up to a global mood! That’s why, on top of the final event, we are preparing the fanciest final product we would ever have imagined!
Tropical Tundra wishes you the very best #earthday! May we as a species unite to hold ourselves and businesses accountable to protect what we have for our children and our children’s children. From the tropics to the tundra, we’re all in this together ❤️ . . #tropicaltundra #earthdayeveryday #savetherainforest #jointhetribe #nationalearthday #awakening #unity #globalcitizenship #biodiversity #racingextinction #blueplanet #mothernature #motherearth #selflove #futuregenerations #ecofriendly #protectnature (at Mother Earth) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_S1r9HH1bn/?igshid=1ldt0rj00qfe8
What a PREMIUM Day!
Yesterday was jam packed full of PREMIUM activities for the BGB team.
Our morning started with our team dynamics meeting #reflection followed by some last minute rehearsals for our PechaKucha #practicepracticepractice
After lunch, Praveen rode around Maastricht to find a builders hard hat #safetyfirst before joining Martin at Porta Mosana College to work with the great students there on their video exchange project. No fear, Sarah and Svenja aren’t left out, they are going tomorrow! #divideandconquer
In the evening we all met again for our PechaKucha, and what a fabulous way to end our day it was. Gathering with other Premium teams, hearing about their journeys, and enjoying the delicious food provided was [insert all positive adjectives here]. To top off the evening we were awarded best presentation, a true honor!
Now back to our spreadsheet to find a time we are all available to spend some quality premium fun at FunValley! #workandplay
Does Everyone Hate the New Snow White?
Rachel Zegler, who played Snow White in the new version of the film, faced hate. Users believe that the actress is not suitable for the role due to her ethnic origin. In Grimms' Fairy Tales, Snow White was described as a princess "who had skin as white as snow, lips as red as blood and hair as black as ebony".
What do I think about this?
I guess it is unfair to downgrade the movie for that reason. The film company can make changes to the original, that is okay. In an actor, the ability to portray emotions, diction, oratory, improvisation, and hard work should be valued first and foremost. The viewer must evaluate the quality of a movie. Those who criticize the actress because of her ethnic origin are engaging in discrimination, they are nationalists. If actors are supposed to look like characters from books, then why do not people criticize the films "Divergent", "Twilight", etc.?
Xenophobia must end.
Wise Youngsters
Hi everyone!
We would like to share our exciting news with you! This week, we finished our first field e-research in Porta Mosana and, more specifically, with the incredible minds of the high school. We were so thrilled to discuss with all of them our insights, perspectives, and thoughts about different topics regarding their research paper for the Global Perspectives course. This first contact let our team observe and get to know our target group better in terms of motivation, dynamics, and engagement in the classroom. Drawing from our observations, we will keep on sharing interesting and innovative ideas with them in future meetings.
After a thorough discussion, we helped our client design the course lessons for the next few months following the hybrid system (partly online, partly onsite lessons due to Covid-19) and decided to pay another e-visit in order to further discuss with pupils about our final event. We would like them to be involved in designing the final Global Citizenship market at school or online. We will keep you updated, as soon as we have a more concrete plan for our final event! Until then, check our introduction to a new recipe, and enjoy your weekend! :D

We call it a success!
This week was very important for us: our Global Citizenship Market took place on-site at Porta Mosana. We were very excited as this event allowed us to put into practice four and a half months of research, discussion, brainstorming, interviews, and designing.
We are proud to say that our Global Citizenship Market was a success! Our client and mentor were delighted and the pupils rated our activities with more than 7/10! Our activity of drawing a world map from memory was definitely a hit.
It was very enriching to engage in discussion with the pupils and converse about different perspectives. In this event, both sides had a fruitful and inspiring learning experience. We can say that we succeeded in planting a seed of global citizenship values in the pupils’ minds. Only the future will tell whether they will grow into wonderful flowers...
