Although Homer's *Iliad* focuses on the final year of the Trojan War, the epic poem makes it clear that the conflict did not originate on the battlefield, but rather on Mount Olympus. After failing to receive an invitation to the wedding of Peleus and Thetis, Eris (the goddess of discord) threw a golden apple inscribed with the words "For the fairest." Y/N: Ironic coming from the goddess of discord.

Eris: Ouch, trust issues that much?

Y/N: Yeah, your literal function is to cause chaos to the world, and it's your fault why I'm always miserable.

Eris: Well, you did play my game.

Y/N: Only because it would finally be over for this nightmare! Why should I trust you?! Why should I believe a single word of what you're saying?!

Eris: Y/N my dear, when the goddess gives her word, she is bound to it for all eternity.

Y/N: What's the point of eternal binding if I'm not even eternal myself? I am just a mortal.

Eris: We can have that arranged.

Y/N: And that my children is the story of how I met your mother.

My original digital art was inspired by the myth of how Eris' golden apple of discord sparked the flames that would ignite the Trojan War. It was inscribed with the phrase "For The Fairest" and was coveted by Hera, Athena, and Aphrodite.

The oak Eris figurine (on the right) sat unfinished for about four years. Sometimes, when you start working on a piece, you have no idea there's a hidden flaw inside the blank. After discovering it, I set the unfinished figurine aside for a while. Now I've finally removed the damaged areas and given the figurine a distinctive sense of completeness. Yes, it's not what it was meant to be, but I'm glad I didn't throw it away. This statue (and others) is available in my shop.
