Zeus is an Idiot
I know, I know, this is nothing new to most of you guys, but I need to rant real quick.
So in God Games Athena asks Zeus for permission to help Odysseus get home and Zeus wants to make this all game. He is all cocky about it, too, of course.
So the game he decides on to make Athena fail is... A debate. And not just a debate with anyone either, it's a debate with THE OLYMPIANS! The people she knows best of all!
Let me make a few things clear. Athena, the Godess of WISDOM AND STRATEGY has to win A DEBATE in order to get what she wants.
And her strategic skills show off in this as well in EVERY SONG with every opponent.
For Apollo she knows that he only half cares about the whole thing. He isn't really involved, so he pulls an argument that Athena can easily override.
For Hephaestus she appeals to his sense of logic. He ist the only one who made a fair argument about not helping Odysseus, because of an actual choice he made.
For Aphrodite and Ares she is very passionate and argues with emotion, because love and anger are very strong emotions.
Lastly Hera, who is canonly a very prideful Godess. Athena wents along with Hera's pace and vibe, dropping the crucial argument of Odysseus never cheating on his wife at just the right time to convince.
OF COURSE SHE WOULD WIN! It's not even a surprise, yet Zeus has the audacity to be angry he lost a game he made way too easy to begin with.
If he really wanted to win he should have made her argue Poseidon or Helios.

Reflection: God Games and the Heart of a True Father
Have you heard the song "God Games" from EPIC: The Musical? I love anything related to musicals and Greek mythology, so this immediately caught my attention. While listening to it, my love for our Heavenly Father was stirred in a powerful way.
This song is inspired by the epic "The Odyssey" by Homer. In this particular scene, Athena—the Greek goddess of wisdom and war—approaches her father, Zeus, the god of the sky, seeking "divine intervention." She wants to save her mentee, Odysseus. What I find so interesting and heartbreaking is how this unfolds. Instead of being gracious to his daughter, Zeus starts a game. He even gathers an audience for it. To win the game and secure Odysseus's release, Athena must convince the other gods: Apollo, Hephaestus, Aphrodite, Ares, and Hera [01:04].
She pleads and reasons with each of them, but the climax with Hera is the most crucial part. Hera, Zeus's wife, is often portrayed as being deeply annoyed by her husband’s constant infidelity. Athena finds an opportunity to reach Hera by pointing out that, despite being away from his wife for almost twenty years, Odysseus has remained completely faithful to her. [03:34].
This revelation pleases Hera enough to convince her that he should be released. However, that victory triggers Zeus. He feels called out and shamed by the contrast between Odysseus’s faithfulness and his own character. Even though Athena technically wins the game, Zeus declares that "no one beats him" [03:56]. In a fit of rage, he summons his thunder to bring her "through the wringer," an act of violence that almost kills her. [04:12].
My takeaway?
I love that our God - Yahweh is so different. He is not a womanizer; He is perfect and blameless. Nothing can put Him to shame because there is no darkness in Him. He is just, yet incredibly gracious and loving. Our Heavenly Father wouldn’t make you play a cruel game only to twist the rules so you lose the moment you succeed. He looks at you like a Father whose ultimate will is for your own good. He might not always answer "yes" or "no" right away, but whatever the answer is, it will be according to His perfect plan—a plan designed to give you a future and a hope, and never to harm you.
Whenever I listen to "God Games," my heart sings praises and worship. I am so deeply grateful that He is God over all, and that He is nothing like the gods of mythology. He is a Father we can truly trust.

Update on that God Games Animatic
So...
it has been a while. University is absolutely kicking my ass. Trying to finish my minor in history this semester and producing a dracula play with the university anglistic theatre is a lot.
so animating took a back seat. but today I finally had some time, while talking with a friend over the phone.
I got to start on the Heaphestus bit, and made a neat walk cycle-ish thing for the level up moments
No sound, cause I messed sth up.
But the intro to Heaphestus happens when he pushes the forge thingy down (I can't think of the name right now).
Yeah, in total, I got to the "trust is not given it's forged" lyric. Which is not that far.
