This is how I fight my battles
Dearly beloved,
I have to tell you that you will survive. I know, you're sitting wishing it could all be over wondering how on earth you can live another day - but you will. I know you will.
I know you will because I have and despite my attempts not to, I am here to tell the tale and yes, to live another day, and another after that.
Child of God, you are so fucking strong. So brave and beautiful, only you bring what you bring to the world. I am telling you this because I haven't had anyone say it to me, and I don't want that to be your story. But if you are the only person that believes you're great, that's okay, because you also have your God cheering you on.
And I am too of course.
You are made of things that cannot be conceived by the human heart. You are magic incarnate, I promise, if you’re reading this and think that doesn't apply to you, you’re wrong, it always has and it always will.
Your armour doesn't have to be metal, it could be anything that makes you think another day on this earth is worth it, because friend no matter how dark it gets, your story isn't over and my goodness is it worth carrying on to another day, another month, another year to watch that story continue.
This is how I fight my battles. With cheesy TV and worship music, with tears and cake and dogs. With scripture and medication and knowing that if i have to be my own champion, no matter how fucking hard that is, I can do it.
So can you.
Learn my love, what you need to fight your battles. Stick around, I want to know how your story turns out.
As steel on an anvil cries out in pain when struck by the hammer, so too is the pain of change.
The key to dealing with it, is realizing the beauty that awaits in the end result.
We wont change until it hurts too much to stay the same. I encourage you today, take the next step. Move forward. It's worth it. This is the sign you've been looking for. If God is calling you to do something, GO FOR IT! You got this because He has got you!
Are you one of those who think this year is already gone and there is nothing more in it for you? I have goodnews for you, God will surprise you! He has your best interest at heart. Are you ready for His surprise? Follow @pastorrichman for grace-filled worship, word and wonders. Find your people
At church a few weeks ago I had a complete meltdown, as the pastor started preaching, his words touched a raw nerve and I was immediately eyeing the exit. It had been a long day and I wasn't ready to introduce my trauma to this atmosphere.
Seeing my distress my beloved youth worker and general life cheerleader grabbed and made sure I didn't make a break for it. I perched outside during communion and had myself a cry with God on the wall we usually congregate around outside our lovely church building.
She wandered out shortly after - I told her that it hurt. She replied "whenever a so called protector stands down, there's always someone to fill the gap" overflow it even. That gave me a warm feeling.
A few days ago a similar feeling arose when my landlady was speaking about a service a few years ago and said that I was okay because my family was there, and this time she didn't mean the people connected to me by blood.
I talk a big game about finding your people, and when you're young your people might change - but that doesn't make the importance of finding your people any less big - especially if like me, you've been let down by the people meant to love you.
Today was a sunny day and I walked and laughed with my best friend, and I sat in the kitchen with another special person as they taught me about make-up and made me feel loved.
A lot of people have hurt me, but I'll cling to idea of found family forever because on days like this when my brain is still beating me up - I saw God is my loved ones faces, I saw Him in their giggles and smiles and care for me, I saw Him in the way that I realised that these people are my home team.
Think about Jesus - He had his home team, who found family within themselves to, sharing bread, wine, fellowship - life - with eachother. That's what you're home team is. The people that remind you of the truth about yourself, the people who help no matter what hour of the night, the people who can make you smile even when you're broken, the people who make you pop tarts when you don't feel like eating, the people who go through all your life event with and you them, the people who want to share all your news with.
Find your people. The lovely humans who you can be weird with, who get your jokes, who know you better than you know yourself, the squeeze-on-the-shoulder in a crowd everything-is-going-to-be-fine people, the God's still good even when life isn't but I'll let you feel all the sucky feelings and I'll be here with tea when you're ready to talk people.
Find those people, and when you find them, never ever let them go ❤️
God bless - M xxx
