(Building portals to link both earth and ghost zone)
It had taken another month to set the new portal on earth. Danny had travelled back and forth, an average of three days.
Earth ectoplasm liquid pool had been left alone, waiting until it was time to turn on both portals at the same time. The idea was to tune both liquids to the same frequency, so they will become anchors to each other.
The one in the ghost zone had already been tuned previously and its sound recorded, both boys had also been present to hear the sound.
Currently Damian was in the ghost zone portal room, Danny was on Earth, in ghost form. He was wearing a black mask, a white hoodie top and under a blanket (he had one side of the blanket up so he could see out).
There were only four ectoplasm scientists on earth, two were his parents, one was Vlad, the last one was a technician who had gone out to pick up coffee at the time of the status change.
Fentons were working in the room next door to help with the tuning, and to watch to see if the ectoplasm starts anything unexpected. They could see into the room. Vlad and the technician were in the portal room with Danny.
His parents knew Phantom was here, but if he needed to change to human form, he was informed to drop under the blanket first. The clothes and mask should help block identification. Vlad, who had been very helpful through this whole period, had insisted on all this.
Vlad had also shown Danny a safe room that had been set up between walls of the building. It was only able to be reached by phasing though the walls. There were beds, a bathroom, food, water and lights set up, even tv monitors which had access to all the security cameras. Danny had stayed there anytime he wanted to be in human form, or to sleep.
“Ok” said Vlad to everyone. “It's time, turn on the portal, and we will start the tuning.”
The technician pushed a switch on the outside of the portal, it hummed and started up. The door opened but the opening gap showed nothing but static. He then pulled a lever which started the power charge into the ectoplasm liquid.
The portal gap hole turned green, and a horrible screech note was heard from the pool.
Everyone flinched. “That note needs to be a lot lower.” called out Maddie from the other room.
“I agree.” said Vlad, moving a lever which changed the note lower and clearer almost like a music note. The portal flicked but still remains green.
“Close.” advised Danny, listening hard, “just a tiny bit lower.”
The note changed again, then the whole room echoed the note back. The portal gap picture changed again. Through it everyone could see the ghost zone room. With Damian, Red Hood, agents and scientists looking back at them.
“Yes!” The cries came from both sides.
“Lock that note down!” called out Vlad to the Fentons. They then did a thumbs up back after a moment. “Ok, Phantom. Go ahead.”
Danny flew out of the blanket area and through the two portals doorways to the ghost zone room. There was no difference between the two zones. It felt like flying through a normal doorway.
“Feels normal, no sensation or anything when passing through.” He squeaked out. Looking around the room he saw a couple of agents were wearing orange handkerchiefs.
Remembering that meant no transforming in front of them, Danny went invisible, and phased through a wall to a locked hall cupboard nearby. He transformed into his human form, removed the white hoodie and the mask. He then put on a dark jumper that was there. He unlocked the cupboard door, walked back to the main room and stood next to Damian.
Danny was just in time to see Agent T walk back through the portals. Once he was through, Vlad called out. “Ok, the person is here. Full shut down now. Will reopen in two hours to report results of tests on the human.
The portal doors shut, and all the machine noise stopped. People cheered, and grabbed each other. “Yes, we are going home!” “Thank goodness” were the main cries Danny could hear.
“Alright everyone, all signs are great,” called out Agent R, “as long as they advise us it's safe. Then our next step is to get half of us all out of here in twelve hours, then the rest of us out in twenty four hours. Your agent will advise you on if you are in the twelve or twenty four hour group. Please be ready with everything you want to bring. Please be sensible on what you can carry out. Thank you.”
Everyone started leaving the portal room.
Agent R walked up to Danny, Damian and Red Hood. “You three will be on the twenty four hour exit. We would like you to be one of the last ones out. Just in case something goes wrong and we need to start again.” He advised quietly.
Red Hood nodded, and the Agent moved on to the next group.
Danny turned to the other two. “Did my parents send a list of what they want us to bring back?”
Damian pulled out a list which had his parents handwriting on it. Jason pulled out a little note with Jazz's handwriting on it.
The parents' one, advised of a box which has all their important documents like birth certificates, family photos and children pictures. They also asked for the documents spread over the lab benches. Advising that they hadn't scanned those into their computers systems yet.
Jazz's note asked for a certain magazine that had a picture of Danny and his mother on the front of it, and also stated 'Danny, if you don't bring Einstein back, I will personally kick you back to the ghost zone to retrieve him.’
“Who is Einstein?” asked Damian curiously.
“Bearbert Einstein is Jazz's teddy bear.”
“In that case, that statement makes perfect sense.” nodded Jason, “we will be breaking into your sister's room then, I don't care that it's locked.”
“Things we have to do for our family.” Danny remarked.
They headed off to the Fenton's house.
