Grace is a seven-foot half-Amazon bruiser who used to bounce at a metahuman bar. She's sure of herself and she's worked hard to get there. She cracks wise, she cracks heads, she cracks hearts (and ends up falling for her teammate Anissa.)
- Outsiders (2003) - Grace's introduction! It's 50 issues plus a few crossovers and goes down like potato chips.
- Everything in order: Outsiders 1-23, Teen Titans (2003) 24, Outsiders 24, TT 25, Outsiders 25, 28-46, Annual #1, Checkmate 13, Outsiders 47, Checkmate 14, Outsiders 48, Checkmate 15, Outsiders 49-50
- Just the highlights: 1-2, 5, 9, 11, 17-19 for Grace's backstory (cw for child sexual assault), 28, 31-33, 39-46, annual #1, 47-50
After Outsiders pickings get slimmer. I read all 130 comics Grace appears in so you don't have to slog through 22 pages of event lore to see her show up in a crowd shot. Comics listed in italics have meaningful Grace presence but I don't recommend them.
Amazons Attack 4-5 - I hate this storyline and I wish Tom King weren't rehashing it in current WW. Key to Grace's story.
Outsiders: Five of a Kind: Wonder Woman/Grace - Follows up on Amazons Attack and the end of Outsiders. Fumbles the opportunity to give Grace civilians to care about but her dynamic with Diana is great ("I just want to get home to my sweetie.")
Batman and the Outsiders (2007) 1-12 - A bit shaky storywise but some fun Grace and Anissa moments.
DC Universe: Last Will and Testament: Conversions - Despite the title this pre-Final Crisis comic is not Grace Choi has become Catholic. She's in this for two pages but they're two really lovely, introspective pages.
*Outsiders (2009) 36-38 - Grace has a full appearance in 36 and continued supporting role in 37-38 but they're bad comics on every level: art, writing, plot, and characterization. Grace and Anissa get consistently hit on by one of Anissa's dad's teammates and he just ignores it. Not my Jefferson!
Green Arrow (2001) 49-50 - fun little story where the Outsiders and the Arrows have to team up to rescue Roy. It's delightful to see Grace and Ollie bounce off each other.
*Supergirl (2005) 3, 13, 19 - Loeb uses these mostly to contrast Grace and Kara in real #notlikeothergirls ways. These were exhausting to read.
Birds of Prey (2023) 14-17 (and presumably 24) - After vanishing for over a decade Grace is back, baybey! She and Onyx have great teamup energy. Not huge characterization strides but it's wonderful to see her outside of anthologies again.
DC Festival of Heroes anthology: Family Dinner - Cute little story! I do prefer her relationship with Jefferson in preboot (which is very groundedly "we both love Anissa.")
Black Lightning (2024) - Grace only shows up in issue 5 but it's a pivotal moment with her and Anissa and also introduces the possibility of messy gay drama (unfortunately offscreen. You can use your imagination.) 1-4 will give you the context for the rest of the story!
Bonus: Vixen NYC - 4-18, 20-26, cameo in 28, 30, 33-38, 54-55, cameo in 60 - It's not in main continuity but this webtoon is honestly delightful and Grace is in it a ton (and still kind of an asshole 🙏)
