Sparta gets to be a full time WORKshop dog!

My workshop is separated from the main shop by a windowed wall (literally the 100 year old windows from the front of the building, which i love) and she has a raised bed and her sheepskin there and she’s settling in super nicely!

what is nefja's quirkiest quirk

she has destroyed pretty much every toy that could be destroyed but she has this one red plush squeaky bone toy which is just lying around all the time and she won't destroy it. she’ll carry it around but she won’t take it apart for some reason.

top 5 pets you'd have that you don't currently have

Honestly, I wouldn’t mind a cat. Some old shitty thing that just wants to coexist. I’d spend a lot of my time trying out different enrichment to see what would suit it in it’s golden years. Indoor of course. I’m incredibly partial to orange and tabby.

CHICKENS GIVE ME SOME CHICKENS like about 5 maybe. Chickens are neat and in exchange for love and food you occasionally get an egg. Very kind of them. They’re so smart.

Obviously I cannot since regulations etc but I think a hamster would be neat. I know nothing about them except they are oddly flat when not stuffing their face and lack a tail. Lots of research would need to be done. But I liked rats so presumably I’d like hamsters.

Guinea pigs :) I love guinea pigs, they are so unappreciated as great pets. I swore off them after my last one passed because I was so upset but I’ve been folllowing a guinea pig insta lately and how they manage to move on from deaths is quite inspiring.

Oscars - fam used to have a couple of Oscars. They are such gorgeous fish. As aquariums go I think that’s reaching a size I probably wouldn’t want to commit to - the hermit crabs are heartbreaking as it is - but I could consider. I would probably have the aquarium inbuilt into the wall near my door, almost as a window.

How did you decide on the name Evdakim and where does it come from?

kima’s name was inspired by crime & punishment by dostoevsky (one of my all-time favorite books)!

the only consistently good character in the novel is dounia —she chooses her actions based on how those that she cares about will be impacted. besides that, she’s literally compared to jesus. although now i recognize that her actions weren’t the best (don’t sacrifice your happiness for others! especially if they’re a**holes who wouldn’t do the same for you!), i admired, and continue to admire, the love and kindness that she shared despite the cruelty that she suffered.

“dounia” happens to be a nickname for both “avdotya” and “evdakiya,” the latter of which is the russian version of “eudoxia” and the feminine version of “evdakim.” according to wikipedia, “eudoxia” means “good deeds” or “she whose deeds are good.”

If you were to get a non-spitz non-sledding breed, what would you get and why?

Probably a Chinook. They have enough coat to deal with colder temperatures, are the size of dog I like and provide a nice steady ride which is always what I prefer (sprint dogs in front are exhilarating, but terrifying to drive).

Their breed club is also super progressive and routinely works to outcross and maintain diversity.
