Luke: [age 13] "So are there other chores I can do to earn more allowance?"

Me: "Pretty soon we're going to have to start mowing the yard. You could do that."

Luke: "But we don't have a mower. We didn't bring one with us when we moved."

Me: "We'll have to get one."

Luke: "I could use the Magic Clip clippers."

Me: "That would work out well for you if I paid by the hour."

Luke: "I could strap it to a skateboard and push it around the yard."

Me: [faux questioning] "'Son, why is the grass in the front yard done in a fade?'"

Luke: "'Why is the grass in the backyard so much longer?' 'Oh, it's an undercut.'"

Me: "You'd definitely have to clean out the grass before using the clippers on your head."

Luke: "So... are you paying by the hour?"

Me: "We're buying a lawnmower."
