Various Miscanthus cultivars (eulalia, elephant grass, Japanese silver grass) and other species have been used to create an ornamental grass garden at Goodnestone Park, Kent. This grass species produces a display of flowers in late summer and into autumn in a range of shapes and colours.

In the grass garden at Goodnestone Park, Kent, the design includes the use of Salix rosmarinifolia (rosemary-leaved willow, hoary willow, narrow-leaved olive willow). This deciduous shrub offered an excellent plant association for the grasses adding height to the design with fine silvery grey foliage in spring, green leaves in summer and golden autumn colour. The stems offer orange-red colours in winter and the flowers are an excellent early source of food for pollinators.

The planting for my garden at the Ellerslie International Flower Show in 2007 included Primula heladoxa (bog primula), Libertia peregrinans (mikoikoi), Carex trifida 'Rekehou Sunrise', Chionochloa flavicans 'Te Mata' (miniature toi toi), Elegia capensis (fountain rush), Calopis paniculata, Restio tetraphyllus (cord rush), Elegia cuspidata, and Rhodocoma gigantea.
