February 10, 2026 - Green Parakeet (Psittacara holochlorus) Found in parts of Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, and Nicaragua in forests and shrublands, these parrots are also found in extreme southern Texas in the United States, though that population is thought to be introduced. While little is known about the details of their diet, it includes seeds and fruit. They nest in cavities in trees, termite nests, or cliff faces and caves where females lay clutches of four eggs.

Green parakeet - London UK by Adam Swaine Via Flickr: Ring-necked parakeets (Psittacula krameri) - often called rose-ringed parakeets by ornithologists - have settled in many city and suburban parks across Britain. Their bright green bodies are easier to spot in winter, but their noisy calls can be heard year-round..None of the birds made the journey here under their own power - they were taken from the wild and brought here as exotic pets. As with many animals introduced by the pet trade, some birds either escaped or were released.

There was a fancy parakeet all alone in a cage full of green parakeets at petsmart today and maybe it’s just my out of whack hormones today but I’m crying over that lone fancy parakeet. All the green parakeets were hanging out but the little guy was just on his own preening himself while all the others had friends to scratch them. Anyway I’m just really upset over that lonely baby and it’s breaking my heart.
