Moksi & Friends @ Grenswerk 22-12-2018
Almost a month ago, but better late than never am I right?
So, my heroes Moksi did a 'Moksi & Friends' show in their hometown Venlo. Since Venlo is really close to my hometown, and the line-up was dope, I basically had to go there.
The night started off with this guy, Keizer Jelle. I only knew him as part of the former group Mightyfools, but I had never seen this guy play solo. I had no idea what to expect, but what I heard that evening was great! His set was a great way too start off the evening, nothing too hard, but also no slow shit. As an opening DJ, he set the vibe just right for the rest of the evening.
After Keizer Jelle, the men, the myths, the legends Moksi took the stage. And like always, these guys broke Grenswerk down. Hard-hitting basshouse drops, sick switch-ups and that classical Moksi vibe. Add the big group of German fans, mostly Bootshaus and Blacklist crew, who made sure that the no chance to create a moshpit was missed, into the mix, and your night is made.
After Moksi, Mike Cervello took the stage. I had seen him live a couple of times already, so I knew what I was in for. And damn, he didn't disappoint. Fast, hard-hitting beats, with an occasional hardstyle drop. Mike made sure that if you didn't give everything during Moksi's set, you would now. His high energy level and interaction with the crowd were certain to reenergize you. Often you see crowds leave after the headliner, but the floor stayed packed during Mike's set. This tells a whole lot about his talent behind the decks.
Lastly, the upcoming trio RECAP took the stage. Three young, local guys who didn't hold back. The saying 'To go out with a bang' is what describes their set best. A great mix of energy and amazing songs made me stay longer than I expected, something I sure as hell didn't regret. The future is bright for these guys, and I'll make sure to keep an eye on them!
