i am really going out on a very embarrassing limb here but i want to maybe get into writing short, one or two shot fanfictions for kanej or anything to do w the grishaverse excluding king of scars and rule of wolves

but i like dont know where to start? i have like 3 followers but if anyone sees this on their dash could you maybe leave a suggestion or something i promise i will not disappoint ty i love u

Shadow and bone

Alright I’m gonna say it: I LIKE MAL AND I SHIP HIM WITH ALINA.

The Darling is hot and darklina has a pretty aesthetic but he is evil. Not morally grey, evil. Do I simp for him? Yes. Do I excuse his abusive behavior and lack of morals just because he’s hot and he’s played by Ben Barnes? No. 

He lied to Alina, manipulated her, forced her to wear the amplifier, tortured and killed people and enjoyed doing it. He knew the king was abusing Genya and he did nothing to protect her because her role at court was convenient for him and his plans. 

Do I like the darklina aesthetic? yes. Is this a good enough reason to ignore the darkling’s abusive and manipulative behaviour? NOPE.

Alina has always loved Mal. What she felt for the darkling and for Nikolai was simply physical attraction and fascination, but she never had feelings for them, she never loved them the way she loves Mal. 

Ultimately Nikolai and Alina wouldn’t have worked. I think Nikolai liked Alina but for him she was also a mean to an end. I haven’t read KoS yet but I think Nikolai and Zoya work so much better together.

Mal made mistakes, he is a flawed character but that’s what makes him human. He might be bland and boring compared to Nikolai but he loves Alina and would do anything for her. He was also aware of his mistakes and apologized for them.

Moving on to other characters:

- GENYA SAFIN SUPREMACY. She’s literally one of the strongest, most resilient characters and she’s criminally underrated. 

Genya and David are the superior shadow and bone ship.

“What’s inside you? That’s steel. And it doesn’t need fixing.” 

- Zoya. Mean and cold exterior but a heart of gold. I love her. The only time I dind’t like her was when she made fun of Alina for her humble background but she made up for it later and became my 2nd favorite character. 

“I am become a blade.”  Stupid. Ridiculous. But also simply iconic lol. He probably got it tattooed when he was drunk and thought it was a good idea. I love it.
