What thoughts do you have on the Daisy/Hazel ship? I remember being 10 years old and wanting them to get married, and I’ve never really shipped either with their canonical partners.
I used to love Daisy/Hazel so so so so so much!!! And yes I absolutely wanted them to get married too!
See I read the books out of order which definitely influenced how I viewed Daisy and Hazel. I think I read...MAM first??? Maybe ASOM? in which Hazel and Daisy both have character development and were closer than in the start so when I read MMU I knew they had it coming, rather than just being afraid that they were going to stay like they were in book 1 throughout the series.
And then I got Jolly Foul Play for Christmas and which sort of cemented my love for them at the time because what is gayer than getting furious at your best friend because she's contacting a boy and telling him about a thing you thought was a special secret thing between you two, despite the fact that you let the other girls in your dorm join in too? Also I seem to remember them holding hands a lot more in this book too, and then they did that little thing where they wrote their initials next to each other with sparklers??? Gay.
However then I read MMU a few times and realised they have like. a wack power imbalance. Daisy, who is white and also has a lot of power as an Honourable, is constantly putting Hazel down, which ofc doesn't bode well as she is A. Chinese and B. a new girl.
The power imbalance I'd argue gets better throughout the books, but like. It still started this way, and that's not a great foundation for a relationship. And even then, imo they want different things from specifically a romantic relationship. Hazel wants someone she know will be there to eat breakfast with her every morning and truthfully I think Daisy is an aromantic lesbian, and wants someone who is going to be supportive of all her wild ideas.
That being said: ship whoever tf you want forever and cheers for the ask anon
