I read somewhere that hybrid animals such as ligers and mules are often infertile and it kind of got me thinking about fantasy settings with multiple mixed races like half-elves or half-orcs. I wonder if they'd be discriminated against if they can't bear offspring, or if inter-race relationships are frowned upon for this reason? (Though on the plus side, it does away with ridiculously complicated mixed-race characters who are a little bit of everything 😂

I suspect the racism element depends on where they are and what the prevailing attitudes are - no doubt some regions/lands/places will exhibit discrimination against those who are of mixed species heritage, while others won’t have an issue with it.

As for whether they themselves can reproduce, I suppose it’s up to the author and the biology they want to have. I had a post ages ago which tumblr won’t let me find (or maybe deleted?!) about compatibility of my various monsters with humans, which is sort of related to this.

some Emma doodles and related stuff. I’m playing with Poseidon and Triton designs as well as some Tartessos stuff including ancient half-breeds like these two. I’ve also decided that Poseidon house has the bottom half of a rough-toothed dolphin which leads to many of the half-breeds from this house developing dark grey speckling over the years after they come of age, they’re apparent by the time they turn 30 at the latest but may develop sooner in some cases (Emma doesn’t have hers yet because she is still quite young)

I like the idea of things being quite history oriented and having Emma see the ruins of tatessos one day, maybe with her mother, and eventually getting a tattoo of her house symbol the sea horse. I chose a sea horse because I looked up Poseidon imagery and aside from tridents there were horses which made no sense in an ocean context so I made it sea horses.

Overall I’m going for a stylized look for the half-breeds that makes them more than just pasty humans with super powers which seems a waste of potential, I may experiment even more with Triton half-breeds to show some differences between the houses. I also really want a nice historical portion of the story and some proper characterization for the generals because it sounds fun.

also: half-breeds are like half-donkey horses in the sense that they have an odd chromosome number because syrena and humans are different species of the same genus, this means all half breeds are infertile and this is another part of why they are really rare since quarter-breeds and such are impossible.

Wait okay, okay, okay. But, if Haggar and Zarkon are married then why doesn't Lotor like Haggar if he's supposedly their child?? maybe he's not their kid. Or maybe he is but he was too young to understand what the fuck was going on and when he found out he kinda resents his mother for fucking up his dad that badly omg and that's why he needs quintessence. He's gonna try to make them good again, oh my baby I knew he was nicer than Evil Zarkon holy shit I need the fourth season ASAP

So Canderboo has changed... Figured this was a good time to post this. Also Emroc and Kessy got updates.. Kessy’s are small but still important. Emroc... LOOKS LIKE A NEW PERSON.... >.> Yeah there is that.. Also new Zakai art. Like srsly. That dress... I used so many refs for it but I am really happy. The Mando Mythosaur skull turned out so freaking badass. Also the Wife of a Mand’alor has perks... nice perks even for being an Aruetii and no one knowing you are married to the man.
