Finally got around to watching all of the first episodes of the new animes that have come out for the Winter 2016 season. First up are the second seasons of things that I have watching in the past that I either really liked or just feel obligated to continue watching since I stuck it out for the first season:
Sequel Anime:
1. Ao no Exorcist: Kyoto Fujouou Hen (good)
2. Kono Subarashi Sekai ni Shukufuku 2 (good)
3. Rewrite 2nd Season (meh...kinda think it should have just ended with the first season)
4. Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu: Sukeroku Futatabi Hen (good)
5. Super Lovers 2 (if you’re into BL)
New Anime that I recommend:
1. ACCA 13-ku Kansatsu-ka: Follows the life of a young government worker in a fictional world tasked with keeping other branches accountable. Not sure why this one interests me so much...maybe because of the art style- somewhat reminiscent of 90′s anime.
2. Demi-chan wa Kataritai: A young high school biology teacher meets 4 girls who are “demis” aka non-humans. He discovers what the daily life of a vampire, dullahan, yuki onna, and succubus are like through interacting with them. Good light hearted laugh.
3. Eldlive: A young boy who speaks with a voice that only he can hear in his mind is recruited to become a member of the space police (Eldlive). There he finds that he has talent and skill despite being bullied, teased, and outcasted in his normal life. This one is ok...I could do without to be honest but it is not terrible and gives me something else to watch.
4. Fuuka: About a boy who meets a girl named Fuuka. Music draws them together and a young romance blooms. Oh yeah, there’s a famous singer who is the boy’s childhood friend that likes him too. Typical sweet, love triangle that frustrates you, but is entertaining none the less.
5. Gabriel Dropout: When you’re an angel and you graduate in the top of your class in Heaven, what do you do next? Live in the human world, obviously. Gabriel is a model angel who becomes sucked into the human world of online video gaming. Very cartoonish girly characters and full of laughs.
6. Handshakers: A boy who is innately talented at fixing mechanical devices is summoned to fix something at a university. There he finds a girl, holds her hand, and is transported into another dimension where he fights as a handshaker. At first I thought I hated the semi-3D-ness of the art, but it is so well done that I just needed to watch more. So far the storyline is just meh.
7. Kobayashi san Chi no Maid Dragon: A typical office worker lady saves a dragon as she walks home drunk one night. In gratitude, the dragon decides to transform into a semi-human form and serve the lady as her maid. Art style reminds me of Danna ga Nani Itteiru ka Wakaranai ken. Very cute anime that is just funny to watch.
8. Kuzu no Honkai: The worst love hexagon you will ever see but can’t stop watching because it breaks your heart and makes you remember all of your “first loves”. Seriously.
9. Masamune kun no Revenge: Teased as a child, Masamune vows to get revenge on the girl who stomped on his feelings. He becomes unrecognizable in order to win her heart, only to achieve his revenge by dumping her in the end. This series makes me laugh out loud at how silly each character is. You just want to shake the screen and yell “just be honest with your feelings goddammnit!”.
10. Urara Meirochou: Young girls at the age of 15 travel to a town in order to learn how to become a diviner. 4 young girls come together at an apprentice house to learn and grow. Very cartoonish, very moe.
