Everyone talks about Dave and Roxie and May but not one talks about how Hap, a literal mercenary for hire, cared so much about a bunch of kids that he sacrificed his life to save them, his last words being to tell Brooklynn and Kenji to live a good long life.
And he needs more appreciation because we expect characters like Dave, Roxie, and May to care about the kids because they are the good guys, Hap is not a good guy. He says hes not a good guy, he was hired by Mitch and Tiff he had no problem working for mitch and tiff UNTIL THE KIDS WERE INVOLVED.
He has nothing to gain by helping them, and yet he was the one willing to do anything to save two children he has known for less then 24 hours. He chooses to help them despite Mitch and Tiff being the ones paying him, despite them being able to offer Hap more in terms of wealth. He'd be alive has he not helped them, and this guy with virtually no morals refused to hurt children.
