Listen, I know season 4 of Camp Cretaceous isn't especially popular with the fandom. But the fanfic potential has me gnawing at the bars of my enclosure.
Just, the prolonged threat of Darius stuck alone with a person who doesn't care about his safety and is only keeping him around as long as he's useful / not a hindrance? That's gotta take a mental toll on all the campers!
Darius is doing a careful balancing act of not setting Kash off while finding ways to undermine him. He's literally exhibiting fawn response in the way he interacts with Kash to try and ensure his safety. And I feel like even after he reunites with the group there's gonna be some lingering stress reactions from that environment. I think some emotional fallout from the prolonged stress, complete with H/C ofc makes a lot of sense.
And the others had to be so worried about him throughout the whole time they're separated. Like, even though they understand the utility of him staying, and that it was likely the best option they had. That doesn't mean their limited ability to keep him safe didn't seriously wear at them too. Or there weren't times they second guessed the decision to have him stay behind.
Also, the thing is, even if things had gotten worse with Kash, Darius still probably wouldn't leave before helping the dinosaurs, even if his friends wanted him to get out of there.
Anyway, I'm still learning the character voices but I've already written 1.5k words just unpacking characters reactions to events in S4, tweaking some things to make more sense, and I have some missing scene ideas, and also might be planning to push Kash a little further past what he does canonically for the drama. Cause honestly, Kash always seems 1 wrong move away from actually hitting Darius.
