But what if an immigrant who is struggling with the new language and writing as a whole uses AI to write an email? Would that really be so bad? I know a lot of creators on tumblr are anti-AI because of the corporations stealing data and the environmental impact. Would you still oppose AI if those two were regulated? Because it's one thing to use AI to create art and another to use it to just survive

At the end of the day, AI is a tool like any other. I don’t like it. At all. I think it’s fucking stupid, and dumb fucking pro-computer people are like it’s our fucking saviour because they can’t string a sentence together if it’s not stolen apparently. In general, I am a grandad. Like, my parents know more about technology than I do, and are more up to date on it cause I’m like whatever, don’t care.

I do not like AI, because while an immigrant using it to word an email is an amazing resource, there are people in my country who speak english, and learned english all throughout school who use it to write emails. And that’s where I’m like “I fucking hate AI and I want it to burn.”

A lot of my friends did computer science in college and all of them have coding jobs now, and they tell me they use it all the time and then just fix stuff on it. That kinda pisses me off too, ngl, because it’s like — making what they studied irrelevant! But they love it, they still need people to fix the code so it actually functions properly and smoothly. It just annoys me even if they’re like “but it makes tedious work so easy and much better.”

In my area of study, a lawyer in California used AI to write a case, and reference cases. Then presented that to court and when everyone was like, “these cases are fake” because they were AI generated, he went home and AI generated case files to match the names of the cases. And brought them back to court. And the court was like: “you should not have a license to practice, you fucking idiot”

Like pure brain-dead idiocy is what I hate about it, and also yes, it being used to create creative works in art and fucking tiktok videos and MUSIX?!!! and everything but it just annoys me anon.

Like of course it has good uses, but majority of what I hear is people using AI to do things they can already do— LIKE PEOPLE WRITING BOOKS WITH AI FUCK OFF?! Like grow tf up, use your fucking brain you heathen

But no, an immigrant using AI for translation purposes is good. What could be wrong is that people rely too heavily on AI then to help them in countries where they don’t speak the language, instead of just learning the language. Immigrants and like refugees sure, it helps. Google translate helps. Dictionaries help. Classes help.

And it’s such a fucking what-do you call it? Like place of privilege I’m speaking from because I am not an immigrant, I speak my country’s language and am lucky enough for that language to be English, and I don’t have to be a refugee and flee my country and try to learn a different culture and language and way of life. I just don’t think, that if I was in that position, I would use AI, because I am a stubborn, pig headed mule and I hate technology.
