Hi there! First of all, I love your page! You give great advice that I use often so thank you for that! <3 My problem this time is that according to a friend, it’s kind of obvious which main characters are going to fall in love and with who. This bugs me. I just want to be like ‘to hell with it, but I also want my future readers to be entertained and excited about that aspect- if you get what I mean. Any advice? :)
Hey there Nonnie, thank you!! I’m glad to be helpful!! :D
Hmmmm I know what you mean, predictability can be a hard thing to avoid.
I don’t know your plot or characters, but I would urge you to deepen it. We aren’t always attracted to what we want to be attracted to, and we are full of flaws. Give your characters weaknesses that will make your reader question their relationships. Have the plot force the wrong characters together for long periods of time, have the plot twist a knife into one of your love interests back, and let their partner react the opposite to what you thought they would. Then find out why. have your characters say the wrong things at the wrong time. Have them full of doubts and insecurities. This is will reflect back into your reader as they evaluate the relationships you are leading them to believe in.
Goodluck, you totally got this, just keep writing!
