Have you ever heard of “seed cycling” for balancing #hormones? Since being diagnosed with #fibroids I’ve done my scientist thing and researched far and wide, both Western medical and alternative sources. One of the things I’ve come across is the concept of supplementing with different seeds at different points during your #menstrual cycle to support hormone production and proper balance. Many reproductive ailments that women face today are due to #estrogendominance, either from too much estrogen, not enough progesterone, or a combo of both. To seed cycle, during the #follicular phase (beginning with menses) until #ovulation you take #flaxseeds and #pumpkinseeds along with fish oil. The #lignans in the flax prevent #estrogen dominance by binding excess estrogen so your body can eliminate it rather than recirculate it. Pumpkin seeds are rich in #zinc to prevent our testosterone (yes, we need it too!) from converting to excess estrogen. Once you ovulate and are in the #luteal phase, you switch to #sesameseeds and #sunflowerseeds 🌻 to encourage sufficient #progesterone production thanks to zinc, #selenium, and #linoleic acid, which converts to gamma linolenic acid (GLA). You can optionally also supplement with evening primrose oil during this time for even more #GLA. I’m giving this a shot for a few months to see what happens. I have had really huge (life-changing) improvements with the fibroids thanks to #acupuncture and #chineseherbs but I’ve been feeling like something is missing (particularly diet-wise). I have also been having more hormone-related skin issues crop up (especially #melasma on my hands) so I'm hopeful this may help nudge my body more in the right direction. #healingfibroids #hormonebalancing #naturalhealth #foodasmedicine #organicfood #paleo #wholefoodnutrition #healthandwellness #paleodiet #glutenfree #dairyfree #hormonalhealth #seedcycling #eveningprimrose
