2001 @heitzcellar Bella Oaks Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. 19 years young and this is showing spiced cherry/currant, old leather, toasted vanilla oak barrel. Creamy and soft in the mouth....cherry, plum and red currant, dusty herb and spiced tannin. Absolutely splendid! 1 of 1 and wished I had more. Definition of good friends? Ones that bring over a 2002 Heitz Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon for dinner! After 30 minutes of decanting we poured and tasted. The wine did not show any color deterioration, which surprised several of us. On the nose, I could detect a bit of age but there was little to no oxidation. On the palate, the wine had strong fruit and acidity showing through and the balance and integration of the wine just got better the longer it sat in the glass. 2004 Heitz Cellar Trailside Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and a 14.5% ABV. The wines from Rutherford's Trailside Vineyard have been part of the Heitz range since 1989. The vineyard is flanked by the Silverado Trail on one side and Conn Creek on the other and is certified organic. This wine is a Rutherford classic, deeply-hued and powerful, with a lush bouquet of dark fruits and eucalyptus and menthol. Its an intense Cabernet aged in French oak with a slight hint of vanilla, well balanced with firm tannins and lively acidity. For more than 50 years, as Napa Valley changed from farm country to a rich man's paradise, Heitz Wine Cellars has stayed true to founder Joe Heitz's vision.Heitz Wine Cellars has earned countless accolades for its dazzling wines every year since 1961.
