The Minstrel, the Maiden, and the Knights of Hellfire (M) by @foundtherightwords: bard!eddie and royalish!chrissy in which he pretends to be a knight. I feel like this SO underrated!

like I’ve been there before (T) by @empress-of-snark: friends au that I loved even though I'll never watch the show haha. All the character dynamics (friendship/romantic) are done so well!

anything by @tofania who I think is SO FUNNY but I'll recommend Folktale (E) which is the first fic I read from her this year.

well my Flight From Hell this morning was good for one thing: it gave me a new au idea

so the pilot on my flight was exceedingly nice and charming (which was good considering it was a 5am flight that got pushed to fucking 7am AFTER we boarded) and it got me thinking about how i've heard that pilots flirt relentlessly and sleep around (which irl kinda icky but in fic...)

and then naturally my brain went eddie as a pilot who constantly flirts with chrissy the flight attendant

but then my brain was like lol wait no eddie couldn't be a pilot he'd be like an air traffic controller or one of the luggage guys that seems more his style

BUT!! he would still find ways to flirt with chrissy the flight attendant by Any Means Necessary

for instance:

paying off the gate agents with weed to let him know which flights she's on so he can be the one to resupply the beverage carts

hanging around the jetbridge when she flies into their base airport so he's the first person she sees after landing

idk that's all i got off the top of my head but one thing you should know about me is the terminal is one of my favorite movies of all time so if i can finangle some kinda au like it, i will.

(also this au also includes jason as a smarmy pilot who's also trying to get into chrissy's pants but she obviously likes eddie best!!!)

Turning his gaze back onto Chrissy, he could see her giving Jess a deliberate once-over. There’s a kind smile on her face, but Eddie could see that thing he can’t pinpoint in her eyes again. She reached up to grab his hand that was dangling from her shoulder and she intertwined their fingers together while her other arm tightened around his waist.

“Jess.” She tested the name out before her smile widened and that sweetness was still there in her tone, but he heard a certain edge to it too. It surprised him. He never heard that tone come out of her before. “It’s so nice to meet you. I’m Chrissy. I’m Eddie’s girlfriend.”

She said ‘girlfriend’ with purpose. Eddie heard that clearly and his brain was starting to connect the dots. A heat formed in the pit of his stomach and his skin began to tingle.

Chapter Twelve: May

Forty-six days left.

There are forty-six days left until the day she would have gotten married when Chrissy takes the last step off the bus in a hop, landing on the sidewalk two blocks from the house. Eddie, leaning against the bus stop sign, raises an eyebrow.

“Good day?” He falls into step beside her. 

“It’s May Day,” she says, and shakes the small clutch of dandelions, late daffodils, and carnations she’d amassed from her first graders throughout the day. “I got presents.”

“Aw, shit,” Eddie says. 

“Don’t worry,” she says, tapping his arm with her elbow. “Mackenzie told me I’m allowed to share my daffodil with Mr. Munson.” She pauses. “Well, he actually got a little mixed up along the way and called you Mr. Munningham, but it’s the thought that counts, right?”

He laughs. “Sure.”  

“Did you have a good day?” she asks, and he rolls his eyes and tells her about the return of the masturbation-is-a-sin evangelist. 

They’re almost to their own front walk when Eddie leans down and breaks off the stem of a pink tulip from Mrs. Mangone’s flower bed. “Here,” he says. “Can’t let another guy show me up, even if he is just a six-year-old.” 

She smiles at the flower, tucking it in the middle of her scraggly bouquet. “He’s seven now.”

“Oh, christ, well now he’s competition.”
