Day 7
I don’t really read that much anymore so I’ll just recommend some fanfictions of characters in a lgbtq relationship I guess.
Down to Agincourt by seperis. (Dean/Cas Supernatural) A massive, epic series that spans four works and 1 million words. It a canon-divergence that has inspired it own spinoffs. I have not read it all but it is as close to a novel as a fanfiction could be.
Empty Spaces by schmerzerling. (Dean/Cas Supernatural) A fanfic illustrated by the talented HelloSaidTheMoon featuring some darker themes. It has some of the best deceptions of a Autistic character I’ve seen so far. Some moments of this story hit especially close to home for me and so this fanfic means alot to me.
Angels Wild by riseofthefallenone. (Dean/Cas Supernatural) One of the first slow burns I’ve ever read and boy is it a good one.
Reinventing the Worm by WordyBirdy (Sherlock/Watson) A adorable one shot set in ACD’s Sherlock Holmes in which Sherlock gets a cold and learns to knit. A very sweet, lovely piece.
Honorable Mentions:
Oh, Honey by CadenceImperfect (Cas/Dean Supernatural) A beekeeper/baker AU in which Dean is a baker planning to open a bakery and Castiel is a beekeeper that sells his honey at the farmer’s market. They meet and things get cute. 💗
In Some Sacred Place (ao3)
Hellosaidthemoon, schmerzerling (91,054; PG13)
Summary: Dean has cystic fibrosis, a brutal respiratory disease that means he can’t cut it in the life his father chose for him, despite his very best efforts. He also has a give ‘em hell attitude and a dogged crush on his childhood best friend. Castiel has an absent father, a stellar GPA, a comprehensive ten-year plan, and—a lot of reservations about all this.
Comments: This is an incredible fic. It deals with some heavy subjects, from small-town prejudice, to serious medical illness, to shitty parenting, but it balances it with very refreshing bouts of hope and love. There is enough good mixed in that the bad is bearable (but still a million tears for Castiel). The art is also aces.
The author’s notes mention an epilogue (which I am dying for) but since it’s been a few years, I don’t think it’s coming (tears).
Arthur de Pince, Révolution des crabes (2004)
“Eh oui, j’avais tourné - et compris du même coup que si on ne tournait pas, ce n’était pas à cause de notre carapace. C’est parce qu’on était trop cons.”
THE TOY SOLDIER TATTOO art by hellosaidthemoon / fic by mriareynolds
Two years after Sam disappears, police officials inform Mary and Dean Winchester there are no more trails for them to follow. The case is cold until new evidence makes its way over to them. It’s the day Dean gets his first tattoo. In honour of Sam. That night, he walks out of the tattoo shop with not only a brand new toy soldier tattoo on his thigh, but also with a crush on his ridiculously cute tattooist Cas.
As life continues and his relationship with Cas unfolds, life proves it will keep going on even without his brother and maybe, he should move on too.
