Hint of the character's story: Mickey grew up with his family in a typical Midwest suburb, with the typical public school life. By the time he hit high school he's a fairly good lacrosse player with a promising future and fairly securely in the popular kids crowd. Spending time with the choir kids is the last thing he expects to do, but when his mom decides that her kids should have a "more well-rounded education really Mickey" he ends up signed up for choir for the next school year. Because choir can't be a one semester class great.
