It is hard getting back into an exercise routein after being on holiday. I managed to get out the door this morning though. It was freezing and the ground in the forest is waterlogged after all the rain we have had so I took the opportunity to explore the new hill trails in the forest. The views were great.
Met up with a friend for today’s run, got to go somewhere new. Slower average pace than some of my other runs this week, but far hillier (407ft elevation gain, 407ft loss), especially in the middle (elevation map attached). Took the first few miles easier, but the 7th and 9th miles were faster than 6:00min/mile. Legs felt strong for the most part, but I had to push really hard for the last few miles.
I hate running up hills 😅

Ten kilometre trail race at the Christchurch Adventure Park today was a real test of my hill running. They were some serious hills. I ended up walking up the second time around. The course had to be changed due to all the rain we had last night. The trails were all clay and very slippery. My shoes were soon caked in clay and got heavier as we climbed. Second time around I realised we were above the clouds and there was an awesome view out over the city so I took a quick photo. Man what a tough race, I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had more juice in the tank. The extra biking I have been doing for the bike challenge has zapped my energy levels a bit and I felt it. Still a fun event in a cool location.
I really really don’t like running up inclines
