Japanese Mythology & Deities
Major Gods in the Chronicles (15)
Hinokagatsuchi-no-Kami, ~ The fire god who burned his mother at his birth
Hinokagutsuchi, literally 'fire god', is the god of fire. Hinokagatsuchi’s birth, in Japanese mythology, comes at the end of the creation of the world and marks the beginning of death. The name is a reference to the burning of the fire, with the added meaning that something is created by the mysterious power of fire.
This deity burns the vulva of his mother, Izanami-no-mikoto, causing a fatal burn. Izanami-no-mikoto lay sick on her bed, and many gods were born from her vomit and faeces. Eventually she died of her burns and was buried on Mount Hibayama, on the border between Izumo (today’s Shimane) and Hoki provinces (today’s Tottori).
Lamenting the death of his wife, Izanagi-no-mikoto, drew his sword, the Totsuka-no-Tsurugi (sword of ten handed breadths) from his waist and cut off the head of his son, Hinokagutsuchi.
From the blood that dripped from the tip of the sword, Ihasaku-no-kami, Nesaku-no-kami and Ishitsutsu-no-ohno-kami were born. From the blood that dripped from sword guard was born Mikahayahi-no-kami, Hihayahi-no-kami and Takemikazuchi-no-ohno-kami. And from the blood that dripped from the handle to the fingers came Kuruoshuumi-no-kami and Kuramitsuha-no-kami.
In addition, many gods were born from various parts of the body of the slain Hinokagutsuchi-no-Kami. These are the gods of the mountains.

❛ their blood is on you. you killed them. ❜ - sukuna @ ryo ;) gotta love that binding vow
SHE wished she could not hear or see him. She wished she could unsee the horror created by him. She wished to return to the people she cared for. But it only proved to be more difficult with his presence; a nightmare that continued to haunt her thoughts and possibly, her destiny.
EVERYTHING seemed real.
TERRIFIED olive green eyes looked down at her blood-soaked hands that trembled in shock; fresh and dripping from her fingertips. The familiar, but motioneless bodies lie in front of her in a sea of crimson. Sukuna's words continued to ring in Ryo's head, causing her to close her eyes shut and find a way to drain them out. However, her efforts were in vain when she felt chills down her spine, and his words echoed louder in her head.
"N-No...stop it." Ryo repeated her words, hands covered her ears as she shook her head. She could feel tears rolling down her cheeks as she held her head tightly; fear and anger seemingly taking the best of her despite her attempts to calm herself.
AS a last attempt to escape from the nightmare, the young summoner yelled the same words from earlier at the top of her lungs. And before she knew, the place that was once covered in blood and corpses was replaced with tranquil silence and nature, along with the presence of spiritual creatures around her. With a faint grunt leaving her lips, Ryo sat up and patted the head of a Kirin before resting her forehead on it.
SHE deserved some peace and quiet -- and perhaps, reassurance.

❛ i’ll never lose, and i’ll never die. ❜ - sukuna @ ryo, royal au
NEWS of what was supposed to be an ambush had gone wrong, managed to reach the royal halls. Guards were seen pacing around the halls back and forth, the servants and advisors of the council that wronged her father figure had evidently shown signs of fear as they faced the ruling king of the lands. But despite all of the chaos that was going on in the castle, Ryo was the only one that looked relieved about the news; content even because it made her realize one important thing.
Suguru was still alive all this time.
THERE was a glimmer of hope in her olive green eyes, but it faded quickly when the atmosphere around the room changed drastically. The princess noticed the people had disappeared from the room, which left her alone with Sukuna as she stood in her place with her hand balled to a small fist on the side. "Even so, no matter what you plan to do to the kingdom and the lands," Ryo gulped, yet there was determination and confidence in her eyes as she looked at him. "The Sparda family will succeed in this.”
