Glen Brittner From 'Hoarders' Was Murdered in 2015, and His Case Is Still Unsolved
In Season 3 of Hoarders the story of 54-year-old Glen Brittner, a Los Angeles, Calif. businessman whose wife had passed away several years prior. As a coping mechanism, the widower started raising rats as pets, but they rapidly multiplied. Eventually, his house was overrun by rodents, and the Hoarders crew helped him sort his life out in 2011. The Hoarders team was ultimately able to save Brittner from his bad situation, but four years after the episode aired, he was murdered.
As of 2015, Glen Brittner was living alone in a multi-acre Antelope Valley home, according to KTLA, where he also ran his business, Domestic Water Delivery. But on Aug. 18, 2015, Brittner was the victim of a home invasion. Hours after the fact, he was found by one of his employees with his hands and feet tied together with zip-ties. The wheelchair he had been using was nowhere in sight, and his head was also bleeding from severe trauma. When Brittner was discovered, he was still alive but in critical condition, and he was unable to speak. He died after living for 10 days in a coma. Authorities believe at least two men invaded Brittner's home. The invaders had apparently stolen $2,000, a few TVs, and some power tools.
Family and detectives suspect that the invaders used Brittners trust as a way inside. There has been no update if any suspects have come up. His life was filled with tragic events starting with his fathers suicide when he was 18. He was married to a women who died in 1998 from a heart attack which led to his hoarding of rats. The show Hoarders changed Brittners life around, he never hoarded again afterwards and went to therapy. His family, friends, and customers speak highly of him and say they miss his kindness.
