Does anyone else have collections within their collections? For example, within my rocks and minerals collection, I have a handful of hag stones that I have found! “Hag stones” are rocks with naturally occurring holes in them due to erosion that are thought to be a sign of luck and protection! 🌊🍀

Above are pictures of me finding all of them! 3 out out 4 were found at Presque Isle on Lake Erie, and 2 of those were found on the same day!

My favorite one I actually had wire wrapped so that I can wear it! Have you found any hag stone and/or have any in your rock collection?

Hagstone Rosaries For Sale

I recently finished creating these two rosaries, and wanted to share them here, in case they really speak to anyone.

Both sets of beads came from vintage rosaries made and blessed in Jerusalem that I was lucky enough to come across. When I found the beads, they smelled of a truly vile and shockingly pungent perfume, so I deconstructed them and then stripped the scent from the wood by alternately bathing the beads in Everclear and Turpentine. I finally reached a point where the smell had faded, though the beads became dingy and splintered in the process of stripping them, so I proceeded to sand each set of beads before reconstructing them using hagstones and some three-way centerpiece beads I found (which included these silver triquetra beads.)

The first of the two pictured here is made from an unspecified wood, though I’m fairly sure it’s rosewood. After stripping and sanding them, I stained the wood using an ensorcelled Dragon’s Blood varnish I made, before reconstructing them with a triquetra centerpiece bead and a Hagstone found on a beach in the Pacific Northwest.

The second of the two is made from olive wood, and following the stripping and sanding, I opted to leave the beads unstained, so as to bring out the natural beauty of the wood grain with a specially charmed Linseed Oil wood-polish of mine. I then reconstructed them using a triquetra centerpiece bead and a Hagstone found on the shores of Lake Michigan.

These are the first two implements of this type I’ve ever made, but I put a lot of energy and care into creating them, so I hope they can serve as meaningful tool in someone’s Craft.
