𝙂𝙞𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙙 🍔 The January special at @honestburgers is AMAZING. I think it might be my favourite special of theirs in the last couple of years. This is the Teriyaki, a collaboration with @fablefoodco. Its available as beef and plant. Beef/plant patty, Fable pulled shiitake mushrooms, teriyaki sauce, double American cheese/applewood vegan cheese, grilled peppers, spring onions, umami mayo and lettuce. I took photos of both and honestly they’re so similar that I can’t remember if this photo is beef or plant 😅. But I just LOVED everything about this, the mix of those mushrooms with the teriyaki sauce is giving me all sorts of ideas for a dinner I want to cook. I love the heat that you get with the peppers, plus that umami taste in the mayo that’s impossible to describe but is so distinctive. 𝙂𝙞𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙙 🍔 Have you been down to @honestburgers vegan restaurant yet? V Honest is on Garrick St in Leicester Square and you won’t find a piece of meat in there at all. This is the Buffalo V Chicken burger; V fried chicken, buffalo sauce, Applewood Vegan cheese, ranch mayo, pickles, and lettuce. I thought this was good! I do think that there is a better “chicken” piece out there from another supplier, but the overall flavour of the burger with the toppings was great. The patty is much like a giant McDonald’s chicken nugget, but I’d prefer something that resembles a thigh piece, and that is possible because I’ve had a few. 𝙂𝙞𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙙 🍔 @honestburgers have opened their first fully vegan restaurant! V Honest is located on Garrick St, Covent Garden, and we have a whole new menu featuring 6 vegan burgers to choose from. You’ll see the familiar Honest and Tribute burgers in their new vegan form, along with the current special Teriyaki, a collab with @fablefoodco, which I am campaigning to get on the menu permanently because it’s the best special Honest have made in the last couple of years. Pictured is the Chilli burger, which has vegan Mexicana cheese, shoestring fries, @this.uk bacon, and a delicious sauce. I LOVED this, and tbh I don’t think I’ve ever had the meat version. There’s also 2 Chick’n burgers, a pesto and a buffalo, I’ll talk about these in another post! Honest’s amazing onion rings have made it to the menu, along with new @fablefoodco shiitake mushroom fritters, which are really nice! Beef patty, smoked British mozzarella, honey and British nduja mayo, shoestring fries, rocket, pickles. It’s actually a collab with @pastaiolondon, and Stevie, the founder, is very passionate out British and Italian ingredients. You’ve got a good mix of textures; the creaminess of the mozzarella with the crunch of the shoestring fries. The. It’s all topped off with a delicious mayo with a slight kick and a hint of sweetness. 𝙂𝙞𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙙 🍔 @honestburgers are back with another banger of a special. This is the Barcelona, a collaboration with @brindisaspanishfoods. Beef patty, @patatasfritastorres jamon iberico crisps, manchego cheese, grilled onions, bravas sauce, rocket, and confit garlic Mayo. Apart from those jamon crisps being delicious, they actually add an important texture to this burger. The bravas sauce was the stand out for me though, it gives you a much more beefy tomato flavour than ketchup. I liked this burger a lot, it’s definitely on the messy side with those onions and the mayo, but the messier the better I say. You can also get this burger in a DIY kit! A collaboration with @westcombedairy, a beef patty with bacon, Westcombe Smoked Cheddar, wild garlic mayo, red onion, rocket and pickles. I dont think there’s anything else that could capture the season better in the form of taste. These fresh, earthy, countryside flavours transport you to the West Country with this beautiful burger. That garlic Mayo mixed with that cheddar is to die for, plus you gotta love red onion in a burger to add the sharpness. 𝙂𝙞𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙙 🍔 It does surprise me that there’s still DIY burger kits out there that I haven’t tried yet, I feel like I’ve had them all! @honestburgers was the latest one for me to try, and honestly I don’t think I’ve had a standard Honest burger for YEARS. Whenever I visit their restaurants it’s usually for a current special, but after having their standard cheeseburger I remembered how spot on they make it. It’s not often I have a burger with no sauce, and Honest doesn’t have ketchup or mayo, instead they use a red onion relish which is so delicious. Plus the detail of the spiced pickles, which is never noticed before, add that little extra quality of taste to the burger. Give yourself an extra minute with that bacon to get it super crispy because it crisps up so well. When you order the kit you also get a free tote bag! Gluten free buns are also available.
