Have this idea of a VigCup AU where they get to be a secret power couple.

Where Viggo survives Triple Cross by Hiccup's help, but who doesn't take the injured man back to the Edge, because for all that Hiccup trusts and loves his Riders, he genuinely doesn't know if they'll help him save Viggo's life.

Where, after a lot of time, multiple visits, and Hiccup secretly traveling back between the Edge and Viggo, they get closer, and talk stuff out, and spend time together.

The high point of this AU is Viggo becoming something of a rouge dragon rider (on the Skrill, of course). He only works and communicates anything related with Hiccup, refuses and evades anyone else, but becomes a formidable Dragon Rider, enough to gain a reputation. Enough of a reputation that the Riders try to establish communication with him (Maybe he feels like he doesn't deserve it, after everything he's done?), until Hiccup stops them by telling them that all those months he spent sneaking off was to "get to know and establish trust with the Rouge Dragon Rider".

I also just have the idea of Viggo, as a rouge rider, occasionally helping the Riders, but keeping a firm distance and silence with anyone but Hiccup. There's basically a lot of general drama (also outside the Riders) about the mysterious and powerful Rouge Dragon Rider.

(Does anyone question why his armor, gear, saddle, and so on, are similar quality and style to Hiccup's own? No, they don't realize for a long time.)

And I have this kinda comedic reveal scene in my head, which happens after the second movie (in which Viggo helped a damn lot during the main fight and was very involved with everything, but never showed his face), where the Riders (and everyone else?) finally start asking who the Rouge Rider is, and it kinda goes like this:

"Who is he, Hiccup?"

"Just, just an old... friend, yeah."

"I would hope after all this time that I've become more than just a 'friend', My Dear Hiccup."

And like, they weren't even planning whether to reveal or hide who Viggo now is (there was a lot of other stuff going on, with the second movie and all that), but the ones who know heard "my dear Hiccup" and kinda just go "VIGGO?!?!"

The angst of Hiccup who trusts the other riders with his life, but doesn’t trust them with Viggo’s life/doesn’t trust them to trust him.

Rogue dragon rider Viggo who only works with Hiccup! They come up with so many ideas together that are honestly terrifying for any enemies they’re up against because you have two of the smartest people in the archipelago, one who used to make terrifyingly efficient weapons if only he had been given the chance to perfect them and one who knows the ins and outs of running an efficient business with questionable and horrifying business practices, and now they’re working together? The power couple of all time; enemies should save themselves the trouble and just surrender before the fighting even starts.

No one else knowing who the rogue dragon rider is until Viggo sticks around long enough to call Hiccup “my dear Hiccup” and everyone clocking it immediately because there’s only one person that’s ever called Hiccup that specific name and it’s their presumed dead former enemy

It would be such a funny reveal I love it so much omg I need to write this au!!!

Rewatching the first httyd movie and like idk if this exists, but a fic that’s pre-first movie timing and Stoick finds out that somehow Hiccup isn’t his son. Like, they switched up the babies at birth, and just an angst fic where Stoick is absolutely destroyed over the fact Hiccup isn’t his son and Hiccup is all “well, you always said I was disappointing!” And thinks Stoick won’t treat him as a son and will try to get him out, but Stoick is firm on keeping Hiccup as his son.

What if the Berserkers went to Berk before the beginning of HTTYD 1 and everything was almost the same, except that Dagur was the one discovering Hiccup's secret (that he became a dragon's friend and trained him) instead of Astrid?

At first Dagur is jealous (because Hiccup could hit a Night Fury with one of the viking's weapons, something no one did before) and angry (because what kind of viking Hiccup is if he helps a dragon?). Dagur is less willing to give the dragons a second chance than Astrid was, and although he doesn't tell Berk the truth about Hiccup, he still tells the Berserker Tribe they have to control/kill a Night Fury (he didn't tell Berk because yk, he wanted to control/kill Toothless himself).

(Hiccup still finds the truth about dragons being controlled btw, and obviously Dagur doesn't succeed in controlling/killing Toothless)

Stoick eventually finds out the truth about Toothless and Hiccup, and for "safety" reasons one of the Berserkers tells Dagur to stay in Berk with Hiccup, Astrid, Snotlout, Tuffnut and Ruffnut. It's hard to convince him at first (because it's Dagur and he doesn't follow orders from other people) but there's something in the way they say it that makes him agree (as if they knew something Dagur didn't).

At some moment, when Dagur sees Hiccup is not with them, he starts looking around, thinking he went with the tribe without them noticing, but later he finds him in his house, looking at the horizon with sadness and pain. At first Dagur wanted to make fun of him, but the way he says "Congratulations, you're here. You won't have to see your tribe dying. And you were right about me. I'm truly the worst viking" makes his heart hurt. And against his own will, he can't avoid helping Hiccup. He never saw him destroyed inside and he knows he wouldn't recover if he lost his best friend and his father the same day.

Then, all of them (Hiccup, Dagur, Astrid, Snotlout, Tuffnut, Ruffnut and Fishlegs) go to Dragon's Den. The fight follows the canon, except that Dagur is more involved in the fight than any other dragon rider. And when he sees how Toothless saved Hiccup's life, he finally believes Hiccup. He believes dragons are capable of being good.

After making a truce with the dragons, Berserkers and Berkians become allies, and Dagur (as well as Astrid, Snotlout, Tuffnut, Ruffnut and Fishlegs) gets his own dragon. He helps the other riders to defend Berk, redeeming himself, and although his behavior at first isn't very different than before (except when he's with Hiccup, because he is "kind" with him), eventually he softens.

(And later the fic would continue the same timeline as Dragons: Riders/Defenders of Berk and Race To The Edge, but with Tuffcup and Heathstrid instead of Hiccstrid. Viggo also would live in this AU because I refuse to accept his death. Oh, and Dagur is single because in this AU he's more interested in defending Hiccup and Berk than having a love interest)

Thoughts on hiccup learning how to growl/mimic a night fury's whistle/roar and using it to scare people in general (specially surprising Viggo)

Hmm, thoughts are… yes, absolutely, love that, adding to my list of oneshot ideas to do something with that in it

He would be such a menace with it too, I just know he would. And omg lol imagine if he manages to mimic a Night Fury growl before the end of httyd 1 where everyone on Berk is still like scared of + full of hatred for dragons and someone in the village is especially rude to him that day and Hiccup just decides fuck it and starts messing with them by making them think there’s a dragon nearby when there isn’t.

Or imagine he starts mimicking growls and other dragon sounds so much when he’s spending time with the dragons/Toothless and playing with them that he just falls into using growls naturally with them and then one day he slips up and uses dragon sounds around humans who don’t know the distinction between a playful dragon growl and a threatening one and he accidentally sends someone into fight or flight mode or something

Having ideas. Vigcup enemies to lovers still very firmly in the enemies phase but also hooking up the entire time. Trying desperately to convince themselves it’s just hate sex, nothing more. It doesn’t mean anything to either of them. And they go on fighting each other on the battlefield during the day, meeting up at nights, adding bite marks to the bruises they left on each other and definitely not placing soothing kisses over them afterwards, no sir.

They manage to convince themselves it’s just that for a while, but then maybe a bigger battle happens, and it’s not just them locked in a one on one sword fight where maybe they aren’t really trying to kill each other. Maybe Ryker ends up facing Hiccup on the battlefield and Viggo watches as Hiccup is nearly killed. Or maybe it’s Hiccup watching Viggo nearly be killed by, like, Astrid or someone else he’s close with.

Maybe after that they realize they can’t pretend it’s just hate sex that doesn’t mean anything, because seeing the other one half dead on the battlefield, not knowing if they were alive until weeks later? It nearly killed them.

Maybe their next time crossing swords is less of a fight and more of a dance. They don’t land any hits on each other, just metal meeting metal with less force than usual. Their ‘fight’ ends in a love confession, and they have to figure out where to go from here, because they’re still on opposite sides of a war. Maybe it ends happily with Viggo joining Hiccup’s side, or maybe it ends in heartbreak where the love was there but it didn’t change anything. The love was there but it couldn’t end their war. The love was there, will always be there, but love alone isn’t enough to change the road they’re already so far down.

Random idea I just had: Stoick gets sort of Christmas Caroled (visited by spirits of the past, present, and [possible] future) as a sort of like… bad things will happen if you don’t change and accept dragons

The spirit of the past shows him things like the night Valka “died” but this time he actually sees what happens before he came in and only saw what looked like a very dangerous situation he needed to save his family from

The spirit of the present shows him Hiccup shooting down Toothless, cutting him free, the forbidden friendship moment and the building trust and the first flight between them

The spirit of the future shows him himself telling Hiccup that he’s not his son and then shows him when he’s holding Hiccup’s unconscious, assumed dead body immediately after the fight with the red death

I think that could be a fun idea to play around with :)
