Human composting: California clears the way for greener burial method

State is the fifth to legalize environmentally friendly process that allows for natural reduction of human remains to soil

Human composting will be legal in California in 2027.

It's already legal in a few other states. Similar to cremation, there isn't much regulation with what you can do with the composted earth afterwards, so, yes you can use it to pot a plant, spread in the ocean, make art, you know, basically anything that was already legal with dirt.

Hi!!! Some context behind this: I am working on a proposal for my college writing class and I decided to write about green burials and why funeral homes should have more green burial options!

(to cremate one body, it would emit an estimated 418 pounds of carbon dioxide into the air. That is the equivalent of driving around 470 miles in a car. Just for one body)

New York becomes 6th state to OK human composting law

Democrat New York Gov. Kathy Hochul signed the human composting bill into law, allowing for the practice to take place in the Empire State.

I’m strongly in favour of environmentally friendly options like this.  I hope to be composted myself one day.
