Name: Hungarosaurus tormai
Name Meaning: Hungary Reptile
Classification: Dinosauria, Ornithischia, Genasauria, Thyreophora, Eurypoda, Ankylosauria, Nodosauridae
Hungarosaurus is a Nodosaurid from the Csehbánya Formation of Hungary, living about 85 million years ago, in the Santonian age of the Late Cretaceous. It is known from four specimens, preserving parts of the skull and skeleton, as well as osteoderms. It in fact had over one hundred osteoderms. It was probably about 4 meters long and it lived alongside a Dromaeosaurid and an Ornithopod similar to Rhabodon. It had very long legs and a large cerebellum, indicating that it was more cursorial than other Ankylosaurs - and probably could have moved quite fast, indicating it had a different ecological niche, or different kinds of predators were encountering it in it’s habitat.
