favorite ankylo? i like spicomellus theure so gnarly

I hope you don't mind the late response, i wanted to answer this one visually! I propably won't be doing this for every ask, but i think that answering asks this way once in a while might be a cool way to keep my blog focused on art.

I really like Hungarosaurus! They have a very unique posture compared to other ankylosaurs, and i've always liked species that were little "anomalies" in their taxonomic groups.

I agree that Spicomellus is gnarly, it's definitely somewhere at the top of the "favorite ankylosaurs" list too. I've wanted to draw it since the day it was named, but i haven't yet thought up a concept i was satisfied with. I just really want to do it's appearance justice and depict it from the best side possible to show off just how wacky it is :P

A dinosaur tooth of an ankylosaur, possibly Denversaurus schlessmani from the Hell Creek Formation in Baker, Fallon County, Montana, United States. Not being well versed in the identification of thyreophoran teeth, the bulbous base could also suggest the ankylosaurid, Ankylosaurus magniventris. Ankylosaurus teeth can be identified with a combination of a bulbous base and a prominent center ridge, the latter which is not present in this tooth. While I'm not sure about all tooth positions of Denversaurus, some nodosaurids could possibly have a bulbous base as well making identification difficult without the presence of a center ridge.

Nodosaurus. . Nodosaurus was a heavily armoured dinosaur similar to the much more famous Ankylosaurus. However it and other Nodosaurids can be distinguished from that group by the absence of a tail club, which all Ankylosaurids had. Day 2 for Dinovember 2021! Gargoyleosaurus and a tiny Fruitafossor.

This was another problem child. First there were multiple under drawings to get the right angle on his limbs and spikes....and then there are just so many scutes and spikes, and in constantly changing angles, having to scale the armored areas without them all blending...and then I, a dope, went and made a busy lush background behind him.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m quite happy with this one, but he gave me some trouble. The only trouble the fruitafossor gave me was a lack of consistent reference pictures (which I expected) and how small it should be (it may be too small, I dunno).

The next few posts will be blindly scheduled until the 7th, as I will be out of service for a week. Hopefully they post accordingly 🤞
