Pet
Pet: I’ll write a drabble of my character buying yours a pet. (specify what kind.)
Ray wasn’t sure why he was in the shelter. Perhaps the spirits of the animals are as strong as the humans around here and it led him to here. What he wasn’t expecting was to find the artist, Talia, roaming through the area as well. His eyebrows rose a little as she explained why she was here.
To find a pet. A companion.
While he couldn’t blame the girl for wanting some form of companionship, Ray couldn’t help but huff a little as he followed her through the area. He really didn’t have to; Talia even told him so. Nevertheless, he went with her, looking at all the dogs, cats, rabbits, and other animals that were left abandoned. Wanting to just be loved and wanted.
Perhaps Ray was connecting with these animals to his own past, more so than necessary.
Finally Talia stopped a large grey cat. A Norwegian Forest Cat… The shelter didn’t call it that but Ray could tell that the cat was one of the bigger breeds. It was a fighter, if the scar across its eye and slightly bitten off ear said anything. He has seen one before, in one of the foster homes. As he watched the cat being affectionate with the artist, he overheard the shelter mentioning that this one was rarely affectionate. That is had a trouble past, usually lashing out. It was marked down as troublesome.
Seeing Talia jerk her head up, knowing that she will take the cat made Ray react without much thought. “How much?” He asked, not really caring all that much. But perhaps this was the motivation for the artist to paint happier pictures. Maybe.
