So there’s like two sides to this debate and I’ve put off talking abt it bc I don’t wanna have to argue with ppl over if Grian’s a watcher still or not. So here’s the info and you can make your own decision.
Grian after killing the ender dragon in Evo left to join the watchers but…
1. We don’t know if he actually joined the watchers or not.
Why? Because he was already in Hermitcraft, he left Evo to do Hermitcraft full time. After the watchers claimed he betrayed them.
What if - he said he’d join the watchers so he could escape having to do Evo bc he wanted to do Hermitcraft and the watchers say he betrayed them bc he promised to join them but instead used them to get off Evo permanently.
2. The theory the Grian did join the watchers
What happened? Idk something bad we can guess. Most common theory I’ve seen is Grian saw what the watchers did to his friends back in Evo then escaped to hermitcraft.
But this doesn’t make sense, why? Because Grian had already joined Hermitcraft while being in Evo still. (This is also missing the detail of Grian betraying the watchers but idk where that would fit in because it seems the watchers say more so betrayed Grian)
A. Once a watcher always a watcher
I get this but… was Grian a watcher from the start?
B. You are only a watcher if you watch
See… Grian doesn’t watch anymore, I doubt he even watched the parts of Evo he wasn’t in. There’s an unspoken rule that if you’re in the series you don’t watch the series (this doesn’t go for everyone but most people)
Unlike Gem and Pearl who use to watch but don’t anymore because they have now joined those series (like Hermitcraft and Evo)
So… this leaves the idea of is Grian a watcher or an ex-watcher?
Does he still have the watchers powers?
And everyone’s favorite question, what happened between ending of Evo and beginning of full time Hermitcraft?
My personal theory is Grian is an ex-watcher. Who has some of the waters powers and some of the watchers protections (ex. not affected by the boogeyman curse) the watchers don’t consider him a watcher because they don’t like him and he doesn’t watch anymore, hence the ex-watcher title. They’re still salty he betrayed them. The listeners still call Grian a watcher because they claim “once a watcher always a watcher” because he still has some of those powers/protections even he doesn’t watch anymore. (This is one of the many things the watchers and listeners need about)
You must always remember the watchers want control over the games. Grian wants to control his game.
