Sometimes a more ‘difficult’ word can have a more specific meaning or be better for some other reason, but sometimes it’s just flexing your access to education.

I... dude I don't have any education lol I repeated the first year of high-school twice(!) before dropping out. I only graduated 9th grade because I was in a tiny school and the head teacher pitied me and lied about my truancy rate so I wouldn't have to repeat another year, as I was already a year older than everyone from repeating in primary school. Because I didn't know how to read. Never obtained a high-school diploma, I know jack shit about anything, chemistry, physics, even basic algebra problems, I'm constantly at a loss for even how to do simple division. No I am not educated and it does actually suck shit, makes it difficult to find work and socialize with people my age.

Like I'm trying very hard not to blow up on you because I ultimately sympathize with struggling from a lack of education and finding texts difficult, but you're being very careless in assuming someone using words you find difficult is 'flexing' their education, because I didn't have that privilege.

Having to look up a word in a dictionary or asking for someone to elaborate occasionally doesn't make something inaccessible. Not knowing how to learn is inaccessible. People either treat me like an elitist snob or completely illiterate depending on whether they know my level of education or not, and that does actually cause problems. That does actually prevent me from seeking things I would like to do, I can't look up 'how to do trigonometry' and come up with an actionable plan to understand the information I'm presented with on my own, so I can't write games I would like to write, and I feel helpless because I don't know algebra and I am not good at calculus either and getting someone to help me with those things would usually involve paying them to tutor me instead of just asking for 5 minutes of their time. In that way I am completely illiterate. That is inaccessible.

Consider whether your frustration with the inaccessibility of someone's vocabulary is a real issue, or something you're projecting. Because I do that, I project malice onto people that say things I find difficult to understand, people I know with degrees in STEM, because there are immense material incentives to be jealous of, and education is set up to make you feel like you're worthless if you miss your chance. It's very easy to project those inequalities onto individual people instead of the inanimate evil that creates them. But in this scenario, I am not someone with a lot of power to make you feel small over those things, in fact people are often doing that to me.

— Whenever the teacher needs an example on how to do a math equation or what a well written and worded essay SHOULD look like they always hold up your assignments as an example, you are 100% the best example of what a student should be like an any generation but especially this one, all of the parents and guardians with the “brain rotted iPad babies” or “wasting their lives away because of technology addiction teenagers” beg you to tell them what your “secret is” but maybe you’re not even fully aware of your greatness or level of discipline and success.

— You have a very distinct and important morning routine that you do every day, whether your routine has 4-steps or 40-steps it’s almost like it’s been burned into your DNA to follow it daily, your routine is not optional, you have the most perfect sleep schedule it’s almost as perfect as you, but in case you need a late study night you wake up everyday well rested regardless of whether you slept a full 8-hours or not, your memory to do things is amazing, you have a better memory than most people in your classes, you remember everything that you hear, read, and write in terms of school, you remember how to spell everything, your handwriting is always neat and legible, you could basically rewrite the dictionary at this point, fun fact: most people in this generation aren’t fluent in English because of the lack of spelling and vocabulary (my teacher said this so it’s probably true), while the other people in your class are crying over the phone ban if you have you you’re perfectly fine without your phone for 6-8 hours a day, you’ve never had any issues writing stories or having original thoughts, you have an extremely expanded vocabulary and are an amazing writer, “You don’t use brain rot?? Nerd alert!” It’s surprising to hear someone only use quote “brain rot terms” ironically, whilst the rest of the world is having unintelligent conversations about skibidi toilet and whatnot you’re the complete opposite.

141 (and friends) professional and  personal Specialty Headcannons.

also I dipped for a hot minute but I spent that time reading twitter thread fics like the internet goblin I am and falling into the multi shipper hole that is PriceNik and poly141 so here are more Headcannons about our favs. 

(also no I won't write Konig Headcannons, I don't like him. pls stop asking)

Areas of interest: academic and personal.

-soap is good at chemistry and chemical equations. the man has the periodic table tattooed on the back of his eyelids and nothing will stop him from making an IED out of literally the most random shit. also knows a concerning amount about atomic physics.  but he also has a passion for all poetry and writes little sonnets in his sketchbook for his partners.

-Price is really good at languages. he's a certified multilingual and is constantly learning. his favourite part is learning niche regional dialects. he is fluent in conversation in all major languages and can speak conversationally in at least 30 others. he also really enjoys horticulture. he can name 50 different grasses according to Laswell.

- Ghost specialises in trigonometry. he can do it mentally on the fly and often comes out correct. he uses it in his sniping, allowing him to be sent on more solo missions, without the need for a spotter. coincidently his secondary talent is navigation, he is bizarrely good at maps and geo guessing games but also used to do orienteering tournaments before his “death”. after the alone mission, despite only being told where the safe house was, ghost seemed to find his way there, without a map, from a city he had only been in for like a week. I like to think his internal sense of direction is like homing pigeon level. you could stick him anywhere and he could immediately find his way back. 

-Gaz is an all-round science man, a jack-of-all-trades. he has a comprehensive knowledge of biology, chemistry, physics, geology and the niche areas as well. zoology, astrophysics, ecology, palaeontology, psychology, genetics astronomy, botany, microbiology and the list goes on. you'll never meet someone with so much knowledge of the natural, social and formal sciences. he's not at university level but he has a thorough understanding of the concepts and case studies for all. he can comprehend the advanced concepts as well. its helped the 141 out of some tight spots. coincidently his personal interest is reading. his room on base and his apartment is full of academic journals and natgeo magazines.

-Alejandro. Mechanical engineering. The colonel of the Los Vaqueros can fix anything with duct tape and a prayer, but he also can build the most robust (and more importantly) high-functioning machinery. all repairs to their vehicles and heavy weaponry on base are done by Alejandro, simply because he doesn’t trust anyone else with the machines that keep his men safe. he also enjoys doing it, it gives him some time to wind down and just tinker with things. His secret talent is weaving and braiding. he was taught by his abuela to not only weave scarves and things like carpets, but also to braid her hair and his sisters once she got too old. (I head cannon him as the oldest and they all lived with their grandma cause their parents died.) he used to braid Valerias hair (as an mlm/wlw besties thing) before she betrayed them. he braided Gaz’s hair once they bonded over engineering.

-Rudolfo. Rudy is an expert in law. more specifically domestic and international criminal law, but he also keeps up with all legal disciplines. due to the proximity of Las Almas to the border, he also keeps up to date with USA law. He's a life saver in sticky jurisdiction missions. he also manages the compounds paperwork for requests. he has a silver tongue that translates to requisition forms. his personal passion is painting though. he feels that sometimes words aren't enough to describe things and loves painting landscapes and the little moments, like a flowering cactus in the middle of the night but also its death the next morning. he knows how fleeting life can be in his profession, and wants to capture all aspects. hopefully more with Ale if they retire.

-Laswell. Algorithms. typical of a spook Kate is an expert in cryptographic algorithms. she spent a few years as a cipher breaker/creator in her early career and hasn't lost her touch since moving to intelligence. all of her transmissions to her sources are hand encrypted and they have a key delivered separately. she creates them herself so that they can't be deciphered. she also does it completely in her head, nothing is typed out. her time off is spent back on her wife's farm, as her passion is animal husbandry. they raise goats, sheep, some assorted fowl and a smaller herd of cattle together.  she has an Australian Shepard and a kelpie/blue heeler dog that she trained herself. 

-Nik is an expert in psychology. not in your typical clinical way, but the body language, tone of voice, mindset and “takes one look and deciphers your whole life” way. His experience is immense and he applies it all the time. he can tell when a prisoner is lying in interrogation and when he's been made during undercover. Nik knows people, and frequently uses his observations to do things like blatantly walk into a restricted area with only confidence and a blank lanyard. the Russian is unparalleled in putting himself in the enemies mind space or pulling off dangerous acts in a crowded area. he’s been teaching gaz some tricks (e.g. the Amsterdam cafe mission). But on the side, he is an excellent barber. haircuts of any length and a full on old fashioned shave, with a straight razor and everything, is his special talent. he does price’s moustache, Jonnys mohawk (even though he thinks its ugly when short), learnt how to give gas a full hair treatment and even does Kates hair. he uses it for missions of course (its a great source of intel) but he also finds it to be a way to show care to his people. 

bonus:

Valeria: main specialty-economics and accounting. special interest-botany (but strictly focusing on poisonous and hallucinogenic plants)

Graves: main specialty: aeronautics. special interest-being a backstabbing bitch? jk, he's actually super into smoking and curing meats. if he had joined 141 he and ghost would have eventually found common ground there. (ghost actually enjoyed his career as a butchers apprentice)

As face-to-face classes approach, there is a 50% chance that all schools in the Philippines will be permitted to perform face-to-face classes. As incoming freshmen, we got to experience everything from the worst to the greatest that you would need for your academic life. We've compiled a list of the top three back-to-school things that are both required and worthwhile to purchase in order to better your academic life. Which consists of a pen, scientific calculator, and a personal organizer.

1. Pen

Fine-Tech is the brand name for this pen. Having said that, it's common enough that I occasionally come upon them laying around, towards the margins of rooms or along the walls. I generally pick them up because they still have some ink left in them—most of the time, though, they're damaged, because people keep functioning pens in their bags or on their tables. I don't recommend the latter since pen thieves enjoy it when you leave your pen in such an exposed location, and this is coming from an experienced pen thief. I've never had to purchase a pen in all my years of schooling, except at the beginning, when I generally lose all my stolen pens and have to buy new ones from the market. But I'm digressing. These pens are fantastic. They're neat and simple, and it appears to contain more than your ordinary pen ink tube, despite the fact that the entire item is simply the ink tube-thing—or whatever it's called. 

It also feels excellent in the hand. Unlike some other pen brands, they don't have the rubber tube around the point, and I think it's all the better for it. I don't enjoy having those rubber tubes on my pens since they get dirty after a while and I don't like the feeling. Instead of a rubber grip, it has a geometric, crystalline shaped-head that, while it takes some getting used to, does an excellent job of keeping your fingers from slipping forward and into the line of fire—metaphorically speaking, of course. The precise price of the Fine-Tech is 30 pesos, and you can acquire it at any National Book Store location. You may buy it not just at the National Book Store, but also at any department store or school supply boutique. Fine-Tech is less expensive than G-Tech; nevertheless, when the pen (G-Tech) falls to the ground, it can no longer be used; however, if the Fine-Tech falls to the ground, it can still be utilized. The pen's overall quality is exceptional for the price. It is unquestionably worthwhile to purchase for writing purposes.

2. Scientific Calculator

Everything improves in junior high school, including Filipino courses, English topics, and even mathematics. I thought elementary school mathematics was difficult, but junior high mathematics was even more difficult. I am now in my  senior year, and mathematics is constantly improving, so you really need a companion, which is what I will discuss; the Scientific Calculator. Calculator, as we all know, makes it easy for people to conduct math operations. For example, most calculators can add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Scientific Calculator, on the other hand, is capable of answering even the most challenging problems. It also helps the learner to spend more time understanding the topic because it is broken down into smaller pieces. It is an excellent calculator. It has a four-line display of all scientific equations and formats, and it can solve as derivative, depreciative, trigonometry, vector cross product, and dot product, among other things. It is extremely useful for mathematics calculations as well as physics calculations. Because of its autonomous design, this calculator gives you smaller tasks to do. Casio is more expensive than the previous one, but it is the simplest method to do it. The overall quality of this Casio Scientific Calculator is good; you can recharge its power with sunlight, and every time you use it, it charges at the same time, resulting in a long battery life.

3. Personal Organizer

My sister told me that high school is different from elementary school since you get to start learning new things and even experience things that are unfamiliar to us. When you enter high school, things get more serious. You must begin to consider both short-term and long-term objectives. This enables you to build a growth template for the person you wish to be when you enter adulthood. You may desire to be academically smart, an all-arounder who excels in sports and studies, or a socially involved individual.

I purchased a personal organizer or tiny notepad to utilize for planning purposes. You may use it for your daily journal and to plan ahead of time, which will help you develop your time management skills, which are extremely important for being a productive person and for your future career. You can get it at any National Book Store location in the Philippines by looking for Veco Spiral Notebook, and it is quite inexpensive compared to other tiny notebook brands like Green Apple or anything. The Veco Spiral Notebook costs just 40 PHP. The notebook's overall quality is excellent for the price. It is reasonably priced and well worth purchasing.

I’ll talk about Sera in the next review because that episode focuses more on her. Again sorry for all of these late posts lol, but at least I’m getting to em right?

Ties with John’s past:

I know this is a strange way to open this commentary up (after note: this is the only section R.I.P.), but straight off the bat Uru-chan hits us with this panel of John seeing himself and Claire after seeing a fake Joker and Seraphina so

You can bet that I’m going to go fucking wild.

Oh, I’ve missed this so much I love when the story throws in this comparison, this parallel to the past. Parallels can get it.

So: let me explain. John’s walking down the hall and then he turns a corner to see Seraphina standing off against a Joker. Now obviously, John knows it isn’t himself. The thought that it would be shouldn’t even occur to him, but strangely, one of the next things we see him think to himself is, “No… THAT ISN’T ME!” So, obviously there’s something there. Along with the image of Claire on her knees as a younger John stands over her, this outburst really confirms my thinking that John is still running from himself. This isn’t anything very new or hard hitting, and I’ve said it before (actually last episode lol), but it really needs to be understood, it needs to sink in. It’s why this theme is recurring throughout the comic and why Uru-chan won’t let us forget about John’s past. John himself can’t forget about his past. For such a long time, his whole life has revolved around trying to run from his past. The concept of this story only exists because John refused to be the person he was.

But, recently, as we see Joker become more and more prominent in John, it’s like the rational, current person that John is, is being overtaken by the worse half. John is slowly becoming more and more of Joker, slowing becoming that monster, and he knows it. He always has. This is why we see such a strong reaction from him whenever he gets violent. Flashbacks to the person he used to be constantly plague him. This episode is proof that this still happens. He still sees his evil half as a monster and it’s growing.

The denial of John in this episode also brings someone else to my mind, something more substantial, I might say, yet not in the way of evidence, just in a more physical manner. When John sees Joker cornering Seraphina, he’s presented with this image of his best friend, one of the only good things that John has in his life (too harsh but phrasing is hard). Because he himself is Joker (not the one attacking Sera, but in general), a negative connotation is now being paired with his vision of himself. His evil half (symbolized by Joker) is interacting with, confronting, his better half (symbolized by Sera). It’s one of the first times we’ve seen this confrontation (even if it’s only symbolically) between past John and the person he attempted to become. In both the image of Seraphina and the image of Claire, either John or Joker is standing above them, obviously a more powerful and evil force. And the fact that both are direct symbols of John implies that this is the side of John that is much more dominant. There is more of the Joker side of John than the Sera, and because the Joker side is more powerful, it’s only a matter of time before Dark John really takes over.

By denying that Joker as himself, John is in part saying that Joker isn’t the only thing that makes up John. He’s trying to convince himself that there is in fact a difference between him and his dark half, and that both exist. He is, however, trying to convince himself that he is in fact more Seraphina in this situation, something that while I imagine was easier to believe back before he became Joker, must be hard to do now. But, like I said before, the direct symbolism of both Joker and John in the panels really imply that Joker is the real John. The fact that shortly after seeing Joker and Seraphina John gets a mental image of himself replacing Joker shows that John understands this deep down, he just isn’t willing to accept it. An interesting development on this specifically, however, was when John punched the ‘fake Joker’ later on in the episode. He saw the image of John on the ground when he knocked Joker down, which means that John and Joker do in fact represent each other, go hand in hand, but more on this part of the scene later. The other meaning behind John denying himself as Joker (back to the initial scene of Joker and Sera vs. John and Claire) is more simple, I guess. By seeing the fake Joker as his past self, he is, like I said before, putting an already bad image to his new persona as Joker. John denying this image pairing is telling that he doesn’t want to view Joker as evil, or maybe that he hasn’t until this moment. He’s saying that he doesn’t believe that Joker is evil, he doesn’t think it’s a fair comparison to compare Joker to past John because Joker is the new John. And Joker isn’t a bad person. It shows that John really seems to agree with what he is doing as Joker, he likes what is happening because of Joker, though this scene might hint at a change in that mindset.

This whole scene could be an allusion to mental illness, as I’ve seen the top comments talking about recently, but I don’t really want to put anything final out there myself because I don’t think that’s really something I can just assume with what I have given. Mental health in general, however, is certainly a big factor with John’s inner conflict, that I am sure about. I’m going to suggest that maybe John is trying to cope with the events of New Bostin because that really impacted his life so extremely. It’s completely plausible for this to be the case because his entire time at Wellston, John seemed to be running from his shared past with Claire. I’m personally thinking that John is suffering grief from this. We’ve seen him grappling with denial for so long, the first stage of grief. This is what the running has been, this is why John chose to hide his powers, why he became a new person. We’ve seen anger building up since when Arlo cornered him in that field and exposed his power, at saw it released as John became the Joker. This is the second stage of grief, anger. Now, I think we are moving onto the third stage: bargaining. John seems so desperate to believe that he isn’t the monster, which can read similar to denial, but because John is actually facing his ugly side rather than ignoring it, I’m going to say that this is John’s version of bargaining. Expect some updates on this though.

But, as I promised earlier, I also want to talk about that second panel comparison later in the episode where when John punches the fake joker, he momentarily sees Joker replaced with John. Like I said, this suggests again that John and Joker do represent each other, but also that the current John, as in the John punching the Joker, wasn’t Joker(I’m sorry that doesn’t make sense but this is hard to explain R.I.P.). Because he is fighting the image of John, who seems to be representing his darker side in his flashbacks, it kind of implies that in that moment, John isn’t acting through his evil side. Maybe this is an effect of him telling himself that he wasn’t, as some kind of temporary deception. But in this second, either John is representing Sera/Claire or some other third party, separate from both Sera/Claire and John/Joker, which is very intriguing. Either that or John was symbolically hurting himself (as in his true person), or at least that dark, prominent side, which is further supported by the fact that John’s face was partly hidden in shadows when we see him staring at the imposter Joker on the ground. And the emphasis on the sigh after John has knocked Joker down showcases what I’ve been saying, that John doesn’t want to become the monster, he doesn’t want it to take over. And because deep down he understands that the dominant side of him is in fact that dark side, he is relieved that he was able to fight back against it.

• Hundreds of years ago everyone was attached to their soulmate with a red string, their pinkies tied together,

• Only a few people could see the strings, and that’s where the trouble set in,

• Because there’s no fun if there isn’t any drama right?

• (That’s a lie, there’s plenty of fun in peace kids),

• The people who could see the strings where often forced to cut them and tie the wrong ones together by people who found someone who thought would be better than their soulmate, which always ended in heartbreak, 

• Or to tell people who they were connected to, which cursed the couple,

• They were people considered as powerful as Royalty,

• But then fate caught on and decided it should mix things up,

• Children began to be born with no red strings, but other soulmate keys, ones that can’t be tampered with,

• Evolution at its best really,

• But there’s still a small amount of people who still have red strings, and one of those people happen to be you,

• In theory it’s the best soulmate key right?

• I mean it should be but nope,

• There still seems to be some people out there that cut the strings,

• You where in a maths class in your last year of school,

• I mean you where begging for a distraction from trigonometry, 

• But you did not mean this,

• You where copying an equation when your hand jolted suddenly then the slight tension that was always there disappeared,

• You watched in horror as your string shrunk to just a frayed end tied to your finger,

• Either a complete douche had gotten bored and cut a random string,

• Or even worse, your soulmate had found someone they thought they could love more than you,

• (You don’t realise until later but maybe you don’t want a soulmate who’s that selfish),

• Your stomach felt like it does when you go into roller coasters, but there was no joy in this,

• Your throat seemed to close and you couldn’t breathe,

• All you could think was that you where never going to meet your soulmate,

• You’d heard stories of people like you, but it seemed so unreal,

• The person who was perfect for you, the person who you where made for, you where never going to meet them,

• Yeah, you didn’t go to school that week,

• You only went the next week because your friends told you there was a huge test, and you weren’t going to let your now non existent soulmate get in the way of good grades,

• Maybe you didn’t ace the test, but when word got around of what had happened, your teacher gave you some extra points, 

• It was the first time you cried over it because it finally sunk in,

• When everyone would be growing old with their soulmate,

• (Or those people who don’t grow old until they meet their soulmate would be living life young)

• You’d be growing old alone, maybe with a few cats or a couple of dogs, and small army of hamsters,

• Okay maybe not totally alone,

• This would be the part when you would slip into a long depression, and start to live life as a recluse writer that only published heart break stories,

• As much as that seemed appealing to you, you literally couldn’t despite how much you tried,

• And you tried,

• (A girl’s allowed to feel sorry for herself okay),

• Your friends where always taking you to see a new film or to walk their dog or to go biking together,

• Or they’d sit silently in your room with you and simply reassure you with their presence,

• In a world that centers around romantic love, you found the magic in platonic love,

• Although there may be no key, you became a firm believer in platonic soulmates, because you’d definitely found yours,

• So yeah, you didn’t get to be a mysterious recluse, you carried life on like normal,

• Although you felt happy for 2 soulmates when they met, you couldn’t help but be envious as well,

• How could you not though?

• Don’t we all want things we can’t have?

• Everyone always does this thing where they apologize although they’ve done nothing wrong?

• It always makes you feel awkward and a lil sad,

• You just need to keep thinking that if you didn’t get cut off you wouldn’t have found the beauty of friendships so amazing,

• But one day you’re at a cafe waiting for a friend and you spot him,

• A boy who also has a red string,

• The first time you’ve ever seen someone with the same key as you,

• And that string is also frayed and snapped,

• You almost scream,

• Are you all cursed or something?

• You contemplate starting a support group but then you realise you’d have to attend and it puts you off,

• You sit yourself down in the chair opposite him, no plan at all,

• You would panic but it seems you’ve lost your mind so there’s no use,

• “So, how many times have you lied about your key to avoid questions and condolences?”

• Yeah you’re straight forward, but you’ve always craved to not have to tip toe around the subject,

• To talk do someone like you with no barriers,

• So you’re projecting your feelings into others, that’s totally healthy.  . .

• He looks up at you with complete confusion first, eyebrows scrunched adorably,

• But he looks so tired and lonely and your heart aches,

• But then his eyes drift to your pinky, where you’re swirling the snapped piece of string around your other fingers, something you always did you ground yourself,

• His eyes light up a little and he half smiles, you take it as a breakthrough,

• “I’ve lost count, you?”

• Not gunna lie, you nearly always do,

• But who tells the truth nowadays anyway?

• Not you, nope,

• The conversation doesn’t exactly flow, with brief gaps and silences, but it’s so refreshing to find yourself completely free to talk and relate to someone,

• You find out Woojin just woke up one day with his string broken,

• And he did take the recluse lifestyle,

• But you won’t let him continue no matter how easy it is to let him,

• You become someone your friends where to you,

• You constantly ask him on ice cream dates or to sleep round because you’re lonely,

• You found your tactic -

 • Woojin will do anything to make sure you don’t feel the same sadness as him,

• So if you say you’re lonely or feel lost

• (Which is only a lie 50% of the time)

• He’ll head straight over, and both of you benefit,

• You slowly manage to bring Woojin back to life,

• You remember the first time you got him properly laugh,

• You had begged him to go 2 person kayaking with you for weeks,

• (You said you had no one to go with and he gave in quickly enough),

• You guys where floating along until you thought you saw something in the water, leaned over to look and capsized the both of you,

• You Remember scrambling to get back into the small kayak, but stopping dead when you saw Woojin,

• He was clinging onto the boat opposite you and he just cracked up laughing,

• He has a snaggletooth?!?!?

• What is this angel music? Why had it been blocked for years?

• You’re ready to fight whoever cut Woojins string because his soulmate is seriously missing out,

• You feel awful, but your kind of glad his string was cut,

• From that point on you’re sucker,

• You bring Woojin back to earth and you discover he’s just a huge dork, not some mysterious figure,

• You’re sat on some swings, waiting to watch the sun rise because you’ve always wanted to and you dragged Woojin along,

• You watch the pink glow mix with the orange and blues and - 

• “Hey Y/N, I’m not glad I got my string cut, but sometimes I think it’s not so bad anymore,”

• You cry and he panics and doesn’t understand but that one phrase means the whole world to you,

• It means you’ve brightened someone’s world to the point they don’t feel alone anymore,

• And it kind of knocks the breath out of you,

• The falling feeling you had since your string was cut decreases significantly and you feel happy,

• Well and truly happy for the first time in years,

• He wraps his arms around you as you cry with happiness, his warmth a comfort you slowly get used to,

• You don’t know what the love for a soulmate feels like, but if it’s anything like what you feel for Woojin it’s overpowering and incredible, 

 • You two never discuss a relationship but you just fall into a conventional couples routine,

• You move in together and sleep in the same bed so you two never feel lonely together,

• You always tell each other you love each other, it isn’t labeled as which sort of love but it doesn’t matter,

• You snuggle under blankets and kiss each other sweetly, a physical contact that makes butterflies float in your stomach,

• You both aim to cheer each other up even when you need it yourself,

•Both total dorks together that joke and act like kids and although you had an old heart at a young age, you make each other youthful again,

• (Because you both deserve the happiness this soulmate au deprived you of),

• Sure you’re both a type of broken, but you’re broken in such a way you fit together anyway,

• Things aren’t perfect, you disagree and occasionally argue, but from this you get to enjoy the happy moments in a way people who never have downfalls wouldn’t understand,

• You may not be soulmates, but you still hold pieces of the other in your hearts,

• Maybe you have a different red string, one that tangles and knots, but is still there,

• You’re unconventional with no solid lines on what things mean or what you are to each other, people often don’t understand your relationship,

• But none of it matters when you no longer feel the loss or loneliness,

• Because you have someone to grow old with,

• And whether that’s romantically or something else entirely, doesn’t matter in the slightest

EDUCATION SYSTEM: PERCEPTION CHANGER

I’m a millennial. I was born in the 21st century where technology is already a trend. I was 7 when I first got my keypad phone. They taught me how to manipulate it but they never told me how phones were made. Even though I didn’t know how cellular phones were created, it didn’t bother me on using my phone of today because I don’t need to know them, what I have to know is just how to manipulate it.

I don’t get why us, the students, have to learn the derivation of a math equation if they could just give us the formula and/or the shortcuts? Is it because they’re teaching us that you cannot just have something you want too quickly? Is it because we have to be amused by the intelligence of the person who made the equation?

I don’t get why us, the students, have to get good grades on all the major subjects, but is only great on at least one major subject. Why do we have to constantly be good at everything for us to be “successful” and get a “great future”? Is it because that the “great ones” are good at any academic field? Is it because the meaning of successful only defines as a person who has a good image on their grades?

In a family reunion or gathering, A relative would always ask me, “Anong course kukunin mo?” I would answer them with “Psychology po.” My respond is always the same and their critics were the same as well. “Bakit? mahina ka sa math?” “Walang future don” “Konti lang pera don”. It might be true but  to tell you the truth I cannot fully understand it and even though I asked, no one gave me an answer that would change my perspective and fully understand what they meant.

Our parents would always say “Mag-aral kayo ng mabuti para marami kayong pera at maganda ang buhay niyo”. Isn’t it too mainstream that the mindset of the people about having a great education is getting into success where we could get a lot money and have a great life?

Why can’t it be “study hard so you can change the world” “study hard so you can leave a mark on the history” in this world full of “study hard to get a lot of money” “study hard to give a great future for your future family.”

Why can’t we live in a world where kids go to school because they want to go to school same way as they study about manipulating using the phone rather than actually learning how it was created.

There is more than one type of intelligence. There must be something that cant be measured by the academic intelligence alone. Yes, it can teach you academic like physics, algebra, trigonometry but it diminishes your creative intelligence. It teaches a student do a certain way, to go to a certain path in life like finish school, get a diploma, find a stable job and be “successful”, if you won’t do that you can’t be successful.

I, as a student, I can inspire and influence the youth. We can explore outside the school. We can make our own path to the narrow and limited path that education sets us upon.
