The ghosts' ideal dates

Pat - go out for a nice dinner, maybe a night in to watch the football on the telly. Basically anything calm as long as they can get a babysitter for Daley.

Captain - going to the theatre (because he's a theatre kid deep down) or watching a military parade, or going for a scenic walk. He would probably also appreciate a spot of dinner, but the main event would be meticulously organised and he'd overthink for hours beforehand.

Fanny - going to the opera or the ballet. She would sit there judging everyone all evening, and whatever poor soul was going on a date with her would have to try and restrain her a little.

Thomas - an incredibly romantic candlelight dinner at a fancy restaurant, followed by a walk in the park. They would have a kiss by a lake under the full moon, and then return to their rooms to find a trail of rose petals and candles. He would then read his poetry and in his mind, his date would swoon.

Kitty - going to a fairground. She loves the idea of someone winning stuffed toys from carnival games for her, and she would want to go on the Ferris wheel together, although she probably wouldn't enjoy the faster rides much. She would also enjoy the novelty of modern food trucks, and would probably happily exclaim about anything and everything.

Robin - although he doesn't generally like the idea of dating, he wouldn't mind going stargazing. He would ignore his date the whole time and just stare at the moon all night.

Julian - any date that involves little to no actual talking, and ends up very quickly in the bedroom. No set number of people required for the latter part.

Humphrey - he would enjoy the novelty of being able to choose who he went on a date with, and would probably go to an art gallery or a nice cafe. It would be really sweet and romantic and he would spent the whole time making corny jokes.

Mary (we miss her) - she would show her date around the farm, and spend the whole time tending to her animals instead of chatting. Her date wouldn't mind because it's quite nice that she cares so much. Basically anything that doesn't involve fire for the main part of the date. She would likely just want to have a simple dinner and then go home.

I don’t even know how I beat both Emerson and jacks, the entire time I was just spinning a wheel and vaguely being like “oh yeah, my finesse is high”, I’m so sorry because even though I played through the entire demo I have not picked up a single bit of strategy or knowledge about tennis. It went through one ear and out the other, but god do you write the matches so beautifully. I was on the edge of my seat, clutching my pearls, literally had to close my eyes as I picked an option cause I was so worried about losing. The laser tag part was arguably my favourite though!!! I passed my mother out in the hallway getting water and she asked me why I was laughing so hard. Thank you so much for writing this!!! So glad you enjoyed the laser tag, I go through phases of "SHOULD I JUST CUT OUT ALL THE RUBBISH FLUFF IN CT:OS" and "No no, someone out there is enjoying it", so it's definitely useful to get a vote in favour of the fluff.

Ideal dates for the ROs below the cut! (I only included one each, but I can imagine them enjoying more than one type of date!)

Tobin

Tobin and MC drive upstate, to visit a quaint little town. They stumble across a large thrift store and goof around with the dusty treasures, chat with the thrift shop owner and end up getting a bunch of silly things for each other (owner practically gives 'em away for free). They get brunch in a local diner/coffee shop, then hike in a forested national park nearby. Tobin's hand finds its way into MC's as they walk, and they follow a little creek through the trees, chatting and laughing. They grab a cinnamon doughnut before heading back.

Rayyan

Rayyan invites MC back home with them over the summer. In the morning, they go for a quick dip in a freezing-cold lake, then lie on a rock to dry-off, allowing the sun to slowly warm their skin. Then they head home and help their mother prepare lunch —a hugely elaborate affair—and spend the afternoon in the living room, napping/playing with the cat/chatting with their grandpa/siblings. Rayyan is... different with their family; more relaxed, at ease, and MC gets to see a side of them that they rarely see at training.

G

G and MC spontaneously take a bus downtown one afternoon, to attend an obscure Altai throat-singing concert that G heard of from a random brochure. It's a strange, but mind-blowing experience, and they stay to chat with some of the singers after, and they recommend a restaurant in the next town that serves amazing food. G and MC end up getting a lift from them so they can eat there for dinner; across the candle-lit table, G reaches for MC's hand. They spend the long bus ride back chatting until G falls asleep on MC's shoulder.

Sam

Sam and MC have known each other for a long time, but Sam still always finds a way to cook up some chaotic new adventure—like the time they ended up brewing purple rice wine in Sam's kitchen because they "watched a cool YouTube video". Now that Sam's in UCLA, MC has also been treated to all the best sites in the city of lights, long afternoons spent on the beach, playing beach volleyball, watching the sunset, getting tacos, then driving out to the desert to see the stars.

What would be the ideal gift/date to the ROs?

Finlay: 

Hmm, Finlay enjoys traveling (and they travel quite a lot for their job) so I imagine, if the MC had the time, they’d go on a date out of the city! Perhaps to an enchanted glade? Or the Floating Forest? They might need MC to choose... So many places, so little time! 

As for an ideal gift? Hand made knick-knacks!! They LOVE collecting little ornaments!!

Lesilfae: 

An ideal date would be having dinner in the moonlight, preferably somewhere expensive, with champagne or wine! He adores flaunting his wealth so please let him spoil you!! 

A bottle of wine (again, preferably expensive and well aged) would be happily received!

Galeon: 

I think Galeon would enjoy to spend the night at home! He’d help Hollond cook dinner for the MC and then they’d spend the night enjoying one another’s company! 

As for a gift? He’d enjoy a book! Cheesy romance is more his style, but he’ll take anything that isn’t scary!

Hollond: 

Wants to go out! Preferably to view the royal gardens or wander the floating streets of the city with the best views! Would also be fine with having a date at home if that was more the MC (or Galeon’s) speed.

Hollond would enjoy receiving flowers or a small plant! Goddess-blessed Water Lillies are their favorite!!

Greta: 

Hmm... I think similar to Hollond she would enjoy wandering the streets, spending time together, eating all the wonderful food from street vendors, and then chasing each other through the winding streets of the Under City!! 

I think she’d like to receive something handmade from the mc! Anything at all!

what would the ideal date be for each of the ROs?

I’ve been sitting on this one for a bit and it was so much fun to think about! Thank you for the ask <3 

Amaranth: Thinks that going on stereotypical mortal dates is funny (and they are deeply curious about the draw, don’t let them fool you, though it’d be a hard truth to get out of them). Dinner and a movie, meeting up for coffee at one of two cafes in town, going mini golfing- they don’t understand the appeal, but with you they’re starting to.

Aster: Dates with Aster aren’t dates in the traditional sense. They don’t see a point in the arbitrary outings mortals insist on, so long conversations about your magic and theirs, teaching you how to navigate the forest in the dark and move quietly, catching fireflies and telling you about the fey realm - that’s more par the course for them. The one exception might be taking cooking classes, as they seem to have taken a shining to the kitchen at the B&B.

Cam: The only one who’s genuinely just down for whatever (though they will offer suggestions.) Volunteering at the local animal shelter, bringing their sketchbook with them to draw you while the two of you grab brunch, trekking to a local waterfall - those are what Cam would put forward, but they’re looking forward to the company more than the destination. 

Remy: Would love something active and outdoorsy so that they can just spend time talking with their favorite person in their favorite environment. Possibilities could include a long hike with a picnic packed, going kayaking and then swimming, or even just going for a simple walk around town.

Emoni: Because of her ghostly stragglers, dates can be funky, but with your help she manages to tune them out. Picking out things to read for each other at the bookshop a town over, sitting in the food court of the county mall and making up stories for passing shoppers while sharing loaded fries, reading your palm for fun, and biweekly Scrabble nights are all things she’d love to do.

Will: Has always been more of a homebody, so something that keeps the two of you close to home is their ideal. They’d enjoy gardening together, having a marathon of things like Halloweentown, Twitches, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and Charmed (to make fun of them), or making a trip to the grocery store and then coming back to make dinner, dessert, and then talking into the wee hours of the night after. 

R+W: Remy gets fidgety if you stay in too long and Will doesn’t fare well if you do something too outdoorsy, so the wire to walk to find something all three of you can do peacefully is a thin one. Ideal dates for your triad involve something all three of you can do together - getting a three person tandem bike and riding along the paved trails in town, stargazing and then heading inside for a movie night (Will picks them apart, Remy throws popcorn to get them to stop), or late night drives in Remy’s pickup (who gets smushed in the tiny middle seat in the front is up to rock paper scissors, and sitting in the back is not an option).

BTS ideal dates:

Jin: anything that involves you two being alone and having lots of good food. he‘d enjoy taking you on a nice dinner but would also love to just cook for you and watch movies at home!

Yoongi: something very chill and relaxed. i feel like Yoongi might prefer staying home! he would love to have a drink and discuss everything you two have on your minds the whole night

Hoseok: this guy would come up with the most unique but also romantic dates! i can totally see him setting up a picnic or taking you somewhere fun, like a zoo or an aquarium.

Namjoon: he would love going out on walks in nature and stopping by some cute cafés! but also if you take this man to a botanical garden, there’s a chance he might marry you

Jimin: he likes adventurous and fun dates. going on a day trip out of the city and exploring new places is something Jimin would absolutely love. also expect romantic gestures and lots of affection

Taehyung: okay this one is probably super predictable, but please take this man to an art gallery or a museum. deep conversations about what the artist wanted to express are a huge plus

Jungkook: anything where he can get his adrenaline running. going to a fair where you can ride all those crazy rides and he can win you the biggest teddy bear in one of those shooting games, would be so much fun for him!
