thinking about kris deltarune dreemurr again. they are an a+ schemer it seems. even if the knight is telling them what to do a lot of the time, it's up to them to know how to act, which details to leave out of the narration, how to reinterpret our inputs to get what they want. it's not exactly canon, but i don't think it would be a stretch to say they'd be a good tactician, and could fill that role in the fun gang without us in the picture.

this is a really fun thought, since it makes me wonder what their place in the group could be like in a situation like that (especially since they seem to prefer following to leading). would they volunteer for the spot? would susie or ralsei (gently) push them into it? and of course, what would they do with that responsibility?

it's not hard to picture a version of the story where, without us, kris is happy to take a backseat, but find themself directing the group because they're good at it, and their friends realize it. might even butt heads with ralsei about it as the story goes on. the group dynamics would probably change a lot in a situation like that for a myriad of reasons lol but you see the vision right

i also think it would be funny and tragic if the most tactically minded character did get to be the leader, but only because they're possessed by the guy who's gonna make them pet every cat in the game because kity :3
